What's On Your Workdesk? Week #528 ..

Good morning friends!  It's Wednesday once again and time for me to share my workdesk with you.  There seems to be some confusion as to what week it actually is...is it #527 or #528 and I'm sure I don't know so I'm going with what our creator thinks.  She says it's #528 so #528 it is!  If you are wondering about this group you can head over to Julia's blog and have a look around.  She has
everything posted there for you to read.  Come join us, we are a friendly group!

Of course, this isn't my workdesk, but it is what I've been working on for a bit.  I eat a lot of green beans and I love making tomato soup and chili in the winter months so I can veggies in the summer.  My mother taught me as a girl and it stuck this canning thing and I have to admit I love seeing my shelf full!  The pint jar of tomatoes in the center had a different kind of tomato mixed in with the rest thus the different look but they will still be just as tasty.  I think the tomatoes were called "purple" something or other.

Well that does it for me this morning.  I'm off to visit as many deskers as I can.  Have a good day and a great rest of the week!

Oh Glenda, what a satisfying cupboard full of produce! I have never canned veg like that, only ever stored them or made chutney/relish out them. That is a real skill you have there and pleasure in knowing that you're sorted for the winter months!

Oh wow, Glenda, and here was me thinking how productive I'd been in the kitchen this week! What a HUGE amount of produce! That is quite, quite wonderful. I love to see all the jars lined up, ready to provide nourishing food for the coming months! Mum used to bottle a lot of fruit before we had freezers. Most of our apple goes in the freezer these days but I do make some chutney and apple butter.

Thank you for your visit! I've gradually been moving over to more healthy eating and I wish I'd known about it years ago when I was young, because maybe then I would have avoided getting ulcerative colitis and then bowel cancer... Oh well, what is, is what it is! You are right, the Chia Oat Pudding is absolutely delicious!

The next best thing to showing us your desk is a cupboard full of home made produce. Great cooking.

Oooh, I love the sight of all those vegatables nicely stored.. it reminds me of my aunt (who still does that I think, she and uncle have a big 'vegatable garden' at their house) and you will have so much fun from this efford when winter comes! Happy woyww and a hug from Holland. Marit #18

Ah, dear Glenda, your rows of beans, only in America, they are memorable .... and seeing yours brought the memory rushing back when I visited Marilyn in Nth Florida last Sept, we don’t get your kind of beans but I love both kinds of green beans.
I love the baked beans too but they dont like me. That tomato looks really great too, your mumma would be proud!
Happy WOYWW. Thanks for sharing, Shaz in Oz.x #20

These look AWESOME Glenda! I too learned how to can as a young girl and even though I don't have my own garden any longer, I still go to the local farmer's market when fresh veggies are in season and get my green tomatoes (for piccalilli), banana peppers (for pepper rings like Valasic), vidallia onions (for onion relish I love on hot dogs) and corn/red peppers and a few other items for our annual corn relish fix. I taught my daughter to can when she was young and she does have a garden so does a LOT of home canning ... far more than I do these days. Have a great day! To be in the 90s here in Akron, OH today I'll be hiding out in my cave! HUGS

Hi Glenda, wow, how amazing your produce looks. Not something I ever learned to do, but how useful to have all that stuff, and maybe they should start teaching it in cookery lessons- much less waste!Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #7 X

That is such a fantastic array of jars. My mum always made chutney, jams and froze lots of fruit and veg over the summer and autumn months ready for winter. So comforting. Happy WOYWW. Have a lovely week. With love & God Bless, Caro x (#15)

Wow, Glenda, that’s a lot of work! Love the look of all of it, it makes me smile at the number of beans, the tomatoes I get, almost every one of my cooked meals starts with onion and tomatoes these days.

WOW way to go Glenda...your canning looks great. Thanks for the visit. I have a few hours he went to a ball game in this wind and heat I decided to stay put. So playing catch up. His garden is very small this year with all the wetness things no where have done well in the gardens. He will have tomatoes and I love to quarter them, add garlic cloves, onion slices, olive oil, seasoning and roast them. Off to the freezer and I eat a LOT of them that way reheated. No rhubarb jam this year only had 1 cutting and that was for a cobbler. Enjoy the next 2 months and we are on our way to fall, it just isn't possible !! Have a fun week.

I love a well stocked pantry. Sadly, even if I didn't have a garden full of flowers and shrubs, I wouldn't have much sunny space for vegetables. At our previous home we had a sizable vegetable garden. Now I'll sometimes grow tomatoes or cukes in pots, but that's about it.
