NEW CRAFT SPACE!

Good morning all!  Well it is Thursday and I should be doing many other things, like laundry, dusting floors, slopping the hogs.....etc. etc.  But do I have the motivation?  NO!  So I have taken pictures of my craft space instead.  All that other stuff will just have to wait ... except for the hogs.  We don't really have hogs ..it is just a saying here.

This is as you first come through the door....this  high boy has most of my stamps in it.  I will open drawers for you another time.

Oops looks like I left a drawer open.  This dresser has my Cricut machine, my big shot and some projects on it.  In the corner is a Cheval Mirror with Abby's bed in front of it.  The dresser has ribbon, small pieces of cardstock, Cartridges for the Cricuit and just some STUFF.

This is my new cabinet my husband had built just for me.  The doors are from a closet kit that were given to us.  My son-in-law built the cabinet.  It has been in storage for two years and I can't tell you how happy I am to have it here in my new space!  It holds so much as you will see in my next picture.  The quilts rack was my mother's and the front quilt, she made for me.  It is a Texas Star and the pieces are tiny and it is quilted to death!  The quilt behind that one was made for my by my Grandmother in 1958.  She put the date in one of the squares.  Wonderful reminders of where I came from.

Here is the cabinet with the doors open.  Whew it holds a lot of STUFF.....Have I said how much I love it!

This picture has my Bachelor Chest which will have Inks, Stamp Pads, etc. when I get it loaded.  I'm thinking about setting up to take my pictures here also.....Then My desk  ...It and the cabinet don't match anything else in the room, however, they are both my favorite pieces.  The right hand door houses my tower for computer and on the door I have hooks for scissors and distressers, tweezers, etc.  Things that I use every day! and of course my heat gun hung on a hook on the side of the desk.  The top right drawer will have my spellbinder dies.  I use these and my Cuttlebug daily!

Last but not least the Nightstand that has my printer and phone on it and the drawers will have printer supplies.  Then of course the closet.  This I am not using for crafting.  I have clothes in this closet and it will continue to be just a closet.

Ok there you have it.  My pictures are not the best this morning, as it is gloomy and overcast and not much light coming in.  I didn't turn on the overhead light as it sometimes creates a glare.  Hope you have a wonderful day!  Remember to take time to Breathe!

CRAZY WEEK

What a crazy week we are having here. Sunday was a terrible day....we had to put down our 13 year lab Gypsie....lots of tears and memories. Gypsie and Max were always together and when Max died last October, Gypsie wouldn't leave the place where he died. She laid there for two months, day and night. We would find her there in the morning with snow on her coat and she would be shivering. So Sad. Then we rescued Bret and he made a big difference for her. Life was good once again, however, Gypsie's hips just gave out and she couldn't get up. Bret would not leave her and now he is grieving for her. We are on the hunt for a friend for Bret but it is not an easy thing for us. We will miss Gypsie very much.

Update on sister. My sister is into her second week in the hospital and starting dialysis. Seems to be doing well with it so far....hoping to come home on Friday.

Finally, I have my own craft room! I am in and have computer up and running, however, I can't find anything just yet! I must put my fingers on everything a couple of times so I can remember then I will be ready to create. I have been in portion of our laundry room for so many years....my husband said he would never get used to coming through the door and my not being there. I will post pictures so you can see how much I love this space! I still haven't figured out how I had so much stuff stored in such a small space. The guys who helped move my new cabinet couldn't believe all the stuff I put in it from the laundry room.

Well it is only Wednesday and we have a roller coaster of emotions this week...We have sadness and grief.....relief and hope for my sister and ultimate joy at my new space!   This old lady definitely needs to take time to breathe!  So bear with me a couple of days while I settle in and then I will have more pictures for you then!

Tags & Vines

Having participated in the huge 100th Color Throwdown celebration, I found I had a lot of fun and decided I would like to do that again.  So here is my card for the Color Throwdown #102.  You can find out about this great challenge here:  colorthrowdown.blogspot.com.  The colors are Marina Mist, Wild Wasabi, and Not Quite Navy.  My card is pretty straight forward and pretty clean and simple.  I don't have many Stampin-Up products, but I do have Wild Wasabi ink and hence the vines. I used different label dies from Spellbinders in Cream and Navy cardstock .  I used a piece of green ribbon from my stash and gathered it to add more dimension.  Then I used some paper from my stash and then everything was put onto a green card base.  To finish off I added two little blue pearls.  Pretty easy huh?   I hope you enjoy!

Supplies:
Spellbinders Dies (Labels Six and Fancy Tags)
Ribbon, Paper, Pearls From my Stash
Vine Stamp (It is so old, I cannot remember where it came from)
Stampin-up Ink (Wild Wasabi)

JUST FOR FUN COLOR CHALLENGE #21

Good Friday Morning to you!  I hope you have had a wonderful week and are looking forward to the weekend like I am!  It being Friday, it is once again time for a color challenge.  Sherry has challenged us to use Blue, Gray and Yellow!  Whew, I love these colors but putting them together has been a challenge in itself!  Please play along with us this week!  All you have to do is make a card or project using these colors and JFF Stamps if you have them, if not just use what you have.  Go to the JFF Blog jffstamps.typepad.com/jffstamps  At the bottom of the Challenge entry, there will be a link to use to link back to your project.  We do love to see what you create.....and who knows you may be this week's winner of the $50 Just For Fun Shopping Spree!

Ok, here is my card....I used the JFF stamp F3433-Retro Dress Form.  It can be purchased from JFF Stamps here jffstamps.com    You should go look around there.  They have so many wonderful, high quality stamps.  You will not be disappointed!  Now back to my card...I stamped the image on pattern paper and cut it out, then I used Ranger Distress ink to give it a blue tone.  I used Spellbinder dies to create the Gray frame and Designer paper for the background from BasicGrey Cappella.  then I added some lace from my stash to make a shade.   Then it was all layered onto a piece of bright yellow card stock and the card base is blue.  I have to be honest here, I wasn't sure about the image or the colors, but they have all grown on me!  Once I stamped the image, it became one of my favorites!  I will be using it again and again!  Sherry has really challenged my pea brain this week!  Now let's see what you can do!

Also you might want to visit the Blogs of the other Design Team Members that are participating this week.  Just click on their names below and you will be linked to their Blogs!

Sleep Depriviation.....

Who needs sleep.....right.....!  I seem to be walking around in a daze.  Most days that is a normal condition for me, however, I'm feeling just a little off.  There has been so much going on around here that my head is beginning to spin a little.....yeah, yeah, I know that's a normal condition too!  My sister continues to improve, but it will be a slow go for her.  The doctors can't decide if she has to do dialysis or not.....we are hoping  NOT!

Maggie, my little yorkie continues to struggle with her allergies.  She was chewing at 3 a.m. and we had to get up.  Now I don't know what the difference is, but once we came through the house and into the craft area, Maggie goes and lays down in her bed and has been asleep ever since.  Now I'm Up and on my second cup of coffee and smoke and thinking about how tired I feel.  I think it is a conspiracy!  I cannot figure out what is causing her itching.  We are controlling fleas and her skin is not red and blotchy, however, there are times she is just itchy.  Hell, I'm a little itchy too!

Well I'm going for another cup of coffee and as my husband says "I'll be able to thread a sewing machine while it's running"!!

I hope you have a wonderful day!  Remember tomorrow is Friday and we will have another JFF Color Challenge for you!  Be sure and come back and check it out!

SNOWMAN MEDALLION

I have been seeing so many Christmas things lately, I decided to get busy on my own!  This cute little snowman medallion will make a great addition to any gift or gift bag during the holiday season!  I used a stamp from JustRite Stampers the snowflake border is also part of this set.  I glued little pearls into the center of each snowflake to just add a little pizazz to the medallion.I cut three different circles from Spellbinders dies and then colored the image with Copic markers and added a little glitter to the hat and scarf.  I apologize for the terrible picture.  I am saving my pennies for a light tent so I can have better lighting and hopefully my pictures will look more like they should.

I hope you enjoy this little guy!  I think he is so cute.  Now it is getting very late for me and I'm off to bed to see if I can rest.

Update on My Sister.....

I don't usually post personal stuff here, but those of you who know me, know I have a younger sister who has been very sick.  She is 4 years younger than me and her health has been a total train wreck!  She has been in the hospital with heart, lungs, and kidney problems; on top of diabetes.  Heart functioning at 30% and kidneys shut down, lungs filling with fluids, blood sugar around 500.    We finally got her transferred to Knoxville to a bigger hospital and she is improving every day.  Her kidneys are doing their thing again but somewhat diminished and heart is about the same.  But there is a light at the end of the tunnel!  She now has specialists caring for her and they are beginning to say HOME to her!  For all of you who kept us in your prayers.....thank you!  You gave me much needed moral support when I needed it!  This is going to be an on-going problem, however, I think we bought some time this time.  Again, thank you for your kindness!

Happy Friday Youall!  Hope you have had a wonderful week!  It has been a difficult week here in LA.....(Lower Alpha community)  Everything that could go wrong, .... has.  It has been a real pleasure to jump in and create a card for the challenge.  Our colors are leading toward Fall and I could use a little crisp breeze right about now!    So why don't you come play along in this challenge.  All you have to do is create a card or project using these colors and JFF stamps if you have them (if you don't it is ok) just use what you have.  Once you finish your card/project go to the JFF Blog jffstamps.typepad.com/jffstamps and link back to your creation using the link at the bottom of the post.  We really enjoy seeing what you create.  There is a lot of talent out there, so share!  Who knows you might be the one to win a $50 Spending Spree!!

Here is my card this week....

I was trying to go with the Fall theme and used the JFF stamp C3431 Berry Branch for my focal point.  I made the berries into persimmons.  Growing up I remember they are not edible until after the first frost so... there you go.  I stamped the image and colored with Copic Markers, then cut out and added to my card base.  As usual I used Spellbinders Dies and Cuttlebug folders to add layers and dimension to my card base.  Then I added Black Pearls to the corners.  I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed doing it!  You can use the links below to check out what the other Design Team Members did this week.

WHAT A DAY!

I cannot describe what a terrible day I had today.  By 9 AM our male dog outside decided he was coming in the back deck and proceeded to tear his way in.  On his way he tore out a cable wire that we no longer use and then the phone line for my Internet service.  Also he had pulled dirt away from the foundation like he would try that way in.  I finally had to put him in a pen which I hated since it is so hot here.  I have struggled with Internet wiring all day long.  I am in the process of moving my craft area and once that is done I can have a more secure Internet connection.  While I was out for the fourth time to put up Bret, I locked myself out of the house.  This is no great big deal as we have a key pad on the garage door and I went around the house and came back in that way.  On my way around the house I could hear my neighbor talking to herself and I asked if she was OK.  My neighbor's husband is bedridden from a stroke and I try and help her whenever I can.  She was having problems with a hose reel and I was able to help her free her water hose.  By this time, it is going on lunch time and I haven't hit a lick at the work I had planned.  So I'm guessing tomorrow is another day.

We are clearing out a bedroom and moving my craft stuff in there, with a desk for my husband.....This comes after 2 years of  "We will build you a craft room" and "It won't be as long as it has been.  This is what I asked for in the beginning....Can you say.....Beating ALL around the bush?  Can you tell I get a little angry just thinking about it!  I cleaned out that garage three different times and I'm so tired of taking stuff out and back into it I could scream!   OK Glenda.....B-r-e-a-t-h-e!!   I spent the rest of my day cleaning out dresser drawers and moving them into the other spare bedroom.  I have accumulated so much stuff so as I was going through it all, I threw out a bunch of junk!  Sooooo I have run my legs off today, back and forth, in and out, up and down.  I'm too pooped to pucker!

Enough whining!  Let's just sum it up as a terrible day, with Gremlins and dogs working against me. I hope your day was better!  I deserve a Margarita and bless Patty, I'm off to make one!

Twisted Paper Image Easel Card

Good morning!  I want to share a vintage card that I did using an image from "Twisted Papers".  If you haven't visited you must....http://twistedvintageimages.com/index.php    This website has so many lovely images with a vintage feel and you can purchase these for very reasonable prices!  The site is owned by Russell White and Stan Pekarsky and you will be amazed at the amount of cd's and images available.  If you remember, Russell White is on the Design Team at Just For Fun Stamps.   Please visit their site as you will not be disappointed.  Russel and Stan... this one is for you:

I began by printing off the image and coloring with Copic Markers...then I cut an oval using a Spellbinders Die and distressed the oval with Ranger Distress Ink.  The background paper is from my stash and it is set-up on a square piece of brown card stock.  I cut the vine from a Spellbinders die and used the tag set also from Spellbinders.  The sentiment is from Flourishes.    The card is an easel card that I got directions for on SplitCoastStampers and Beate Johns has a wonderful video there also.  Check it out:  splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/easelcard/     I find this card very easy to do and will be doing more of them in the future!

Thanks so much Russel and Stan from Twisted Papers and Beate Johns at SCS

Well guys, it is hump day and I have a "to do" list a mile long!  So have a wonderful day and enjoy!

Christmas

I have been seeing so many Christmas projects that I just had to start my own.  If I start now, maybe, just maybe I will be ready this year.  Every year in the past, I have had all these ideas and everything starts going crazy and I never finish all my projects!  This year I'm vowing to do better!  Here is my first idea.  It could be used as a tag on a gift or hung on a tree as an ornament.

I started out by cutting two Fleur-De-Lis Pendants (Spellbinders) and glued them together with Zots.  Next I cut a circle out of green card stock and one with white card stock and adhered them to the front and back of the pendant.  The stamp is a Flourishes Christmas Stamp and I embossed it with gold embossing powder from Ranger.  Quick and easy peasy!  Hmm ... at this rate I could have a ga-zillion things ready by December!

Have a great day, as you begin another work week!

A New Friend

Good morning to all of you!  As many of you know, I am an early riser.....conditioning from many, many years of working on public works as my Mom would say.  So each morning I visit my favorite blogs to see what is going on out there.  I do this because I am curious and want to learn and to be quiet so my dear hubby can sleep as long as he can.   Now one of my favorite blogs is:  fresh & fun   Beate Johns is the author and such an amazingly talented lady.  She makes the most amazing videos and I have learned many, many techniques from watching.  I guess you could say I have stalked her!  Beate, please don't take offense as my stalking is totally harmless!  Well to make a long story short, Beate sent me a little kindness package and I have to tell you, I have never had anyone be so kind to me before!  Beate, this card is for you!  It is Clean and Simple and to the point!

I stamped the image in Memento Rich Cocoa ink and colored with Copic Markers.  I cut lots of square layers and total card is 3 X 3.  Perfect for one of my little ladies in the nursing home to give to her family or friends.  I took yellow ribbon and a Copic Marker and made the deeper shade of gold for bow.  The colors on this card really remind me of fall and I am already looking forward to that time of year, when things began to cool down and leaves start to fall and the winds blow.  It is so hot here in East Tennessee.  We are having one of the hottest summers on record!  It is making this old broad huff and puff!

Have a wonderful Sunday!

The stamp I used is F2714 - Wildflower Silhouette you can purchase it here:  jffstamps.com
I stamped the image with Stormy Sky Ranger Distress Ink.  I made lots and lots of layers using the colors in card stock and Spellbinders Dies.  Once I had all my layers assembled, I mounted them on a base card of light blue.  Lots and lots of cutting!  I used a texture folder to add dimension to one of the layers!  I hope you enjoy!  Now why don't you visit the Blogs of the other JFF Designers participating in this week's challenge.  You just might get inspired.....I know I do when I visit!

Vintage Tag....

Good morning everyone.  It is Saturday and we are in the midst of a good long weekend!  I hope you have a wonderful 4th of July!  Be safe out there!

This morning I want to share a tag I made...It has a real vintage look and feel to it and I just love the image.  I started out with a good piece of card stock and I ran it through my Cuttlebug with a Sizzix embossing folder then I sprayed it with Glimmer Mist in Suede and Vintage pink.  Once that was dry I rubbed some gold metallic rub-on paste and then glued on my image.  This image was downloaded to my computer from The Graphics Fairy here:  graphicsfairy.blogspot.com  There are so many free images on this Blog and I just thought this one was adorable!  Once the glue was dry....I added some Ranger Distress Ink in Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain to age everything a little.  The words are from Tim Holtz Stamps ....I can't remember the name.  I stamped the words on card stock and then sprayed with Glimmer Mist and then smooched the card stock and added some Distress Ink to them too.  The flowers are from My stash sprayed with....you guessed it... Glimmer Mist ...Suede and Vintage Pink...  I also did this on the lace trim and the ribbon.

Supplies List:
Gina K Designs Card Stock
Sizzix Embossing Folder
Cuttlebug
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist

Just For Fun Color Challenge #18

Good morning my friends!  It is Friday in case you didn't realize that!  Now we all know that everyone, including me KNOWS when it is Friday and the beginning of the weekend!    Since it is Friday, it is again time for another Color Challenge from Just For Fun Stamps!  Come play along with us.....just use these colors and your JFF stamps and create a card or project.  It is OK if you don't have any Just For Fun Stamps yet, just use what you have.  To inspire you to play, the wonderful people over at JFF are giving you a little incentive this week...a $50  Shopping Spree will be given to the winner of this week's challenge!  You have to spend it all at one time....if you don't, it will not be carried over.  How's that for incentive?

My card this week was made using the JFF stamp #A988 Sea Grass.    Now I have to tell you right off the bat, I struggled with these colors!  Purple is not one of my favorites and I used a different shade of blue but this works for this card.  I stamped the Sea Grass with Ranger distress Ink in Dusty Concord and  Stormy Sky and used a cotton ball to add color to the background area in Bundled Sage (I think).  I cut out the image using my Spellbinders Dies (squares) and added the green color while it was still in the die, thus giving the white border.  Then I cut a green mat and a black mat and then used the Fluer-De-Lis Spellbinder Die in white then another layer of green and black.  The base card is white.  Lots of layers!  Lots of cutting!  Whew!!  I have to admit, I get a little lazy when it comes to all these layers, but I do love the look....so I did all that work just for you!!  Now let's see what you create!  Remember, if you win, there is $50 of product just waiting for you!

Once you have your creation, just go the JFF Blog jffstamps.typepad.com/jffstamps/ and link to your card/project using the link at the bottom of the Challenge entry.  Good luck and I can't wait to see what you come up with.  You might also like to click on the names of Design Team Members listed on the right hand side of this blog  to visit the Blogs of the other Design Team Members and see what they created.  There is a huge amount of talent on this team and I promise you will not be disappointed!
