Hummer!

Now anyone who knows me, knows how very much I love the Humming Birds!  They totally amaze me; how such a small creature can exist....and such beauty!  When my grandson was very small I so wanted him to see one...He could hear the clicking but when he would turn his head it would be gone from the feeder.  Then one came right up to his face and just hovered there turning this way and that just for him to see every angle.  Spencer held his breath and marveled in it's beauty.  I prayed it would not touch him and it did not.  After a few moments it went back to the feeder.  You could hear Spencer begin to breathe again and he was so amazed at it!  To this day, he also loves the hummers.  When I saw these stamps from Flourishes, I just had to have them and I am not disappointed!

I made a boo boo on one of my flowers and so I covered it with the saying.  One thing about orange or red toned copics....if you smudge, I cannot for the life of me get rid of the smudge.  I use the colorless blender, however, it just never seems to go away!  Once I had my image colored, I cut out with Spellbinders Circle  and  Oval dies, and used a cotton ball to add Memento Ink (London Fog) to add some color.  The background paper is from the Basic Gray Capella collection and I just love it.  I cut  out the little hummer and used a Zots dimensional to give it a little height.

Supplies:
Gina K Designs Card Stock
Spellbinders Dies (Circles, Oval, Scalloped Oval)
Basic Gray Paper
Flourishes Stamps (Humming Along and Life Lines)
Copic Markers
Score Tape
Zots 3-D
Some bling from my stash
Memento Ink (London Fog)

Now run along and enjoy your day...It looks like we had a little rain during the night!  Wonderful thing!  Today is supposed to be a transition day with 90 degrees again, then tomorrow a promise of 80 degree temps.  Such a relief...cannot wait!

No New Pictures.....

Good morning, and by the way, it is Monday.  I don't have a new card to post today.....My little MagPie is struggling again with her allergies.  She is just so itchy....I'm going to take her in for another steroid shot this morning and maybe we can sleep again.  I've been trying everything to make her comfortable, but the last day or so she has been miserable.  At 1:30 this a.m. I am up and mixing vinegar and water to sponge onto her skin.  It helps with the itching, however, it only lasts an hour or so, so we have been up most of the night.  I feel a nap coming on.  I just hate giving her steroids, as they work on her kidneys.  I feel like each shot is a death sentence in the making, but she is just so miserable.  Fleas are the problem and I'm constantly spraying the yard but they are stubborn here in our area! All it takes, is one bite and she is off and running.  Big red welts and itchy, itchy!   So Frontline works when the flea bites, and one bite is the end for Maggie... Found a new product from Cedarcide that is cedar oil and it will kill the little buggers in seconds!  Good stuff but kind of expensive.  All natural and I'm hoping this will be the last shot for her this year.  Keep your fingers crossed for us.  DEATH TO THE FLEAS!!

Watering Can with Flowers

Good morning!  Hope you are getting ready for fun weekend!  I will be making zucchini relish!  It is a favorite of ours....Our garden is beginning to produce and the zucchini is the first.  Cucumbers are coming right along too.  Lots of blooms and little cukes!  I love to can, something I learned from my Mother....Of course our neighbors will also receive fresh produce too.

A couple of weeks ago, I had several cards I had made and was running out of room to store and wondering what I was going to do with them.  A new blogger friend Beate Johns  said "Send them out!"  Well I thought about it a little and thought to myself....I'll give them to my sister...She is a Nurse Practitioner in Knoxville, Tn. and visits several nursing homes.  What an idea....So I called her and asked if she would like to have them to give to her patients.  She said she had 3 little ladies who came to mind, and she is taking them to these little ladies.  They can give the cards to family and friends who come to visit, and bring little things that they need.  I'm so proud to think these patients will be able to enjoy my cards!  Beate, thanks for setting the wheels in motion!

Oh, I'm about to get off course..I made a new card for today.  I used an image from Just Rite Stampers as my focal point.  I'm sorry, when I first began purchasing stamps, I wasn't very good at logging everything and marking for future reference.  I'm doing better now, but on this one....I'm lost.  I stamped on watercolor paper and colored using a water brush and Ranger Distress Inks.  I used Spellbinders Dies to mount the image.
Supply List:
Just Rite Stampers Stamps
Spellbinders Dies
Gina K Design Card Stock in White,Sweet Mango, and Turquoise Sea
Score Tape
Ranger Distress Inks

Now go on and enjoy your day!  We are still hot and dry here...mid 90's again!

JUST FOR FUN COLOR CHALLENGE #17

The colors for our challenge this week are Pink, Green and Cream or White.  Come on and Play along with us!  I love these colors and so I made two cards for this challenge!  A little over kill!  My first card is just a saying (G2199 - Thoughts and Prayers) stamped in Bundled Sage Distress Ink.  I used Spellbinders dies to add layers and for texture I used a Cuttlebug Folder, Swiss Dots.  The pink flowers are home made and the centers are pearls from my stash.  This would work well for sympathy card.

My next card is using stamp #G3192 (Peony)  stamped and embossed in gold.  I then used my Copic markers to color and shade.  I mounted the flower onto two Spellbinders Classic Frame with the middles cut out, then glued them together to make the frame.  I cut squares of pink and black card stock  and mounted it on white card stock.  I tied a bow with some silk ribbon from my stash and a few pearls to highlight the framing piece and the card is done.

Now let's see what you can do!  Just use the colors listed and Just For Fun Stamps if you have them, if not it is OK to use whatever you have.  Go to the  JFF Blog and use the "Submission Link"  at the bottom of the post and link back to your card or project.  We look forward to seeing what you do!  Also just click on the names of the Design Team below to be directed to their blog and you can see what they did!  You will not be let down; they always have some wonderful ideas!

HUMP DAY!

Well we have made it to the middle of the week!  It is still so hot and dry here!  It has been in mid to upper 90's with heat indexes of close to 100.  This has been going on for several days 9 or 10 and I have to tell you my Ass is dragging!  My poor hubby works outdoors and I have been a little worried about him!  If you have outdoor animals, please check on them and give fresh water as often as you can!

I have another card for you this morning!  I received my new 2" square stamper and stamps from Just Rite Stampers and I have to tell you I'm loving them!  The name is Hope border and centers.  I've been trying to use my Spellbinders Dies in new and different ways these last few days!  It involves a lot of cutting and groaning, and whining, yes whining.  I'm so lazy!  But I love the look I have been able to achieve and so I will be doing more of this as I go along!  My mind is buzzing with ideas and every morning I wake up with a new idea.  There are so many things you can do with them and I am having so much fun!  My stamp was put onto white card stock from Gina K Designs and also the border was put onto Ocean Mist card stock from Gina K.  I layered onto a Black Onyx card stock, onto a border done with Spellbinders Classic Lace Border cut and glued together.  Then onto another square of Ocean Mist and finally onto a 4 1/4 X 4 1/4 square card made with Gina K. card stock.  A white ribbon tied into a bow from my stash a few pop dots and it is ready to go.  I hope you enjoy!  Oh yes, I used Ranger Distress Ink in Stormy Sky to stamp my images.

Good Morning!

Good morning my friends!  It is Monday and the beginning of another week!  The time is just flying by.  Yesterday we just hung out!  My husbands daughter came to visit and he had a great Father's Day!  Even got in a short nap which is very unusual for him!  I got to play a little so it was a good day!  I have all these Spellbinders Dies and decided to try and use them in creative ways and the ideas have just been flying!  The image is from Flourishes A Year of Flowers (I think that is right).  I colored with my Copic Markers and used some of the new card stock  I got from Gina K Designs (Sweet Mango) and my Spellbinders dies.  I colored a few dew drops with a Copic marker to match the flowers.  I hope you enjoy this!

We are in a hot dry spell here!  I mean really hot...in the 90's...and we haven't had much rain either!  There has been rain all around but not on our little acre!  It is too hot to do much outside but water the flowers.  So I am cooped up in the AC.....(time to play!)  I spent a couple of hours outside yesterday and I almost melted and run down into my shoes!  I am hoping we get some relief soon!!  A few 80 degree days would be most welcomed!

Well I'm off to get another cup of coffee and check out some of the other Blogs I love to visit and see what everyone else has been up to.  Have a wonderful day and try to stay cool!

Trio Card....

Good morning everyone!  I hope your Sunday is getting off to a good start!  Yesterday was a good day.  I got to spend some time stamping and cutting and I made a new card to share with you!

I used an image that I have had for a long time...I believe it is from a Flourishes set and stamped on an oval cut out from Spellbinders Ovals Large Dies and put that on a scalloped Oval and then added to the front of my card.  The little corners are also a Spellbinders Die.  I used my Ranger Distress Inks to color the images ...this is new for me.  I love the colors, but need to practice with shading.  I also used a Borderabilities Grand Die (Classic Lace) for the bottom of my card.  I used card stock from Gina K Designs in cream and turquoise sea to set up the card.   Added some sparkle ( Rhinestones) from my stash and the card is ready to go!

I hope you enjoy the card!  Have a great Sunday; it's the last day before Monday Blues!

JFF Color Challenge #16

Happy Friday to you all!  Sherry has challenged us with the colors Green, Blue and Yellow today.  Please come join us and play along.  All you have to do is make a project/card using the listed colors and JFF Stamps if you have them.  If you don't it is OK to use whatever stamps you have; just use these colors.  Once you make your project/card just go to the Just For Fun Blog   jffstamps.typepad.com/jffstamps/  and link to your project/card using the Mr. Linky listed at the bottom of the post.  We love to see what you come up with each week.......so come play along with us!

For my card this week I chose to work with Just For Fun Stamps G1809 Floral Oval VI, and D2701 Life is What Happens.  These stamps can be purchased on the website at:  http://jffstamps.com/  You should visit their store as they have some amazing stamps!  Now back to my card....I stamped the Floral Oval VI on cream card stock and then cut it out.  I distressed the edges and then used Ranger Distress Ink to age the card stock.  I colored the image with my Copic Markers and set it up on a piece of designer paper from my stash...I can't remember which company...and the base card is a blue card stock from Gina K. Designs.  I made a stick pen and slipped it through the silk ribbon, tied the bow and it is done.  For the inside of the card I used the same designer paper, Spellbinders dies,  and card stock and distressed the edges of the sayings with more Ranger Distress Ink.  I hope you enjoy it!  Now why don't you visit the other DT Members participating in this week's challenge and see what they did!  I'm always so excited to see what everyone else does!

Good Morning.....

Well Monday has rolled around once again and we are facing another week!  Not too shabby!  I'm not sure what I will do today.  I spent the night roaming around the house .....could not get to sleep!  (I think it is an old woman thing!)  Anyway, I don't like it!  So I will probably need a nap sometime during this day.   LOL

Boy it has been so hot a muggy here these last few days!  I'm wondering when the cooler temps will return.  It is hard to stick your head out, let alone do any work outdoors!  I just can't seem to muster any excitement about painting on the fence.  I don't like much and would so love to finish!  If you are working outdoors please be careful!  I always worry about my husband working.  He is out in all the elements and sun stroke will slip right up on you!

I still have nothing to show this morning.  I spent my Sunday doing nothing and visiting with my Grandson!  He is 12 going on 30 and such a joy to me!  I don't get to see him nearly as much as I would like, but isn't that the way of all us Grandmothers!  Well have a great day, and a wonderful week!  Try to enjoy your days and if you live in my area, please be careful in the heat!

Just For Fun Color Challenge #15

Happy Friday all!  Since it is Friday, it is again time for the Just For Fun Color Challenge!!  This week Sherry challenged us to use Olive, Light Blue and Tan.  Please come play with us this week!!   Just create a card or project and go the JFF Blog http://jffstamps.typepad.com/jffstamps/ and link your card or project using the Mr. Linky at the bottom of the page.  We look forward to seeing what you create!  You do not have to have JFF Stamps; just use the colors listed above.  Good luck and we hope to see your card/project there!

I decided to do a tag this week.   Change things up a little!  The stamps I used are:  H3170-Alpha Sayings and E3300 PRR Railroad.  You can purchase these stamps at Just For Fun Rubber Stamps http://jffstamps.com/  Feel free to check out their site.  They have lots of wonderful stamps and they are such good quality!  A very good value!!

I stamped the train in Ranger Distress Ink in Forest Moss then embossed with clear embossing powder from Ranger.  I stamped the Alpha Sayings and then cut out the words I wanted to use.    I used Ranger Distress Inks to add some color to the tag and topped off with some jute.  Pretty simple!  I hope you enjoy!

Cream Colored Tag
Distress Inks from Ranger
Clear Embossing Powder from Ranger
Stamps:  E3300 PRR Railroad and  H3170 Alpha Sayings

Rainey Days.......

It rained all day yesterday.  I didn't get to stick my head out all day long...but it was OK, as I really needed to spend some time doing HEAVY cleaning.  Now today, I get to run errands.  I will wind up spending most of the day running in and out of stores and gathering groceries.   I try to limit my trips to town to once a week, since I hate it anyway, and I feel like I'm using too much fuel.  Not that it is that far to town from here, but I'd much rather be at home.  I guess that comes from working all those years; so now I'm very content to just be here.  I swear, I remind myself of my Grandmother, more every day!  Most days you could find her puttering around in her flower beds or sitting on her porch...Yep...that's me all over!  I love being outside and being in the fresh air.  And I have almost finished painting THAT DAMN FENCE!  Just a couple more sections on the outside and I'm done.  Whew, I can't wait....then it is on to the front porch.  I have so many projects that I want to do, and I'm sure the summer just will not be long enough!  Canning season is fast approaching and hopefully, I'll be  doing some of that.  I love to see things going into jars and onto the shelves for winter.  It makes me feel like I've really accomplished something!

Well ladies, I've been way too long winded this morning.  I just wanted to say hello and get about the business of the day.  Sooooo, I'm off to get another cup of coffee!!

Have a wonderful day and REMEMBER TO TAKE TIME TO BREATHE!!

A little gift........

Good morning all!  Hope you are doing well.  I'm a little late this morning, however, I do have a cute little project to share with you.

This little shoe is made from a pattern I found at a blog that I visit often.  You can find the pattern here...http://artfulaffirmations.blogspot.com/  Just look down the right hand side of her blog and you will see the tutorial.  Now this is my first try at this and it takes a little playing with (for me) to get everything to fit nicely.  She makes it look so easy.    I used some yellow card stock and ran it through my Cuttlebug with folder for the toe of the shoe.  I also used some Ranger Distress Ink in Spiced Marmalade to add some depth to the pattern.  A little lace and a homemade flower and it is done.  It is the perfect place to tuck some of my favorite laces, ribbon,  and other things I love down into the toe.  Such a nice gift idea.

Remember guys, this is a first effort so please be kind.  I will be trying this again and hoping it will have a more finished look.  To me, mine looks a little sloppy.  But never fear...I'll keep doing this until I get it right!
I'm thinking one of my friends will get this as a small gift from me.

Twisted Paper Flower Tutorial

Good Monday Morning!  Hope your week is getting off to a good start!  My day will be filled with lots of errands and laundry and Suzy Homemaker Stuff.  You know the drill!

Chaun asked me if I had a tutorial for the flowers I used on my card posted on Friday for the JFF Color Challenge....I personally don't have a tutorial for anything.(I never felt like I knew enough to do one)...but you can go here to see where I learned it...http://www.creatingkeepsakesblog.com/blog/2009/10/30/special-guest-blogger-tia-bennett/  This is the tutorial I used.  I had been seeing these flowers a lot and thought they were beautiful so I Googled it and this is what I came up with.  I love these flowers and they are so easy to make.  When I finish one I spray it with Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels and smush it down.  When it dries, it is so pretty.    Good luck Chaun!!  Usually, I visit lots of blogs and youtube and find tutorials and watch them.  That is how I learn.   I live in a rural area and we only have 1 craft store and there are no classes to my knowledge.  Here is a blog that I visit daily...http://beate.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/
Beate is a very talented lady and has numerous tutorial videos listed on her blog.  I use a lot of the techniques that she shows in her videos.  Check her out!

I don't have a card to post today, My weekend was spent gardening.  Our veggies are up and doing well.  Tomatoes are blooming and have been caged.  Cukes are blooming, and the beans are putting out runners.  We are so happy to have had rain on our garden this Spring.  Usually, once we plant it just stops raining, but this year we have been so fortunate.

I hope you have a wonderful week!  I'll be back in a day or so with another card for you.  I'm going to have to find a new way to store them....I have several and need to be able to store without cramping them.  Any ideas?

Just For Fun Friday Challenge #14

Good Friday Morning everyone!  I hope you are Up and Ready to Go!  Since it is Friday, it is again time to challenge your creativity!!  KAT has chosen  Monochromatic: Shades of Any One Color  for today's challenge!  Come play with us!  Just make a card/project using these colors and JFF stamps if you have them.... if you don't have any of these stamps just use what you have...then go to the JFF blog site http://jffstamps.typepad.com/jffstamps/ and link your card or project using the Mister Linky at the bottom of the post.  We look forward to seeing what you will come up with!  We love having you play with us each week!

Here is my card for this week's challenge.  I used the JFF stamp #A3195 (Trudy) for my image.  You can find this stamp at the JFF website http://jffstamps.com.  When you visit, you will see they have some amazing stamps!

Now, back to my card...I made the background on my card stock base using Pearl Andirondack Acrylic paint and a piece of Saran wrap.  You just dab the paint on glossy card stock and then let it dry.  Next you add some ink to give the color you want.  I used Ranger Distress Ink in Victorian Velvet....it made it a nice pink color, just what I needed for my shades of pink card.  Next layer is some lace from my stash (I think I found this at Walmart and I sponged some Victorian Velvet ink onto the edges of that.  Next layer, I used
card stock sprayed with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in  Vintage Pink, and Pearl.  I ran it through my Cuttlebug with a folder to emboss.  Then I used Spellbinders Dies to cut my three layers   to set up my image.  I used paper from my stash and did different things to add texture.  One layer was run through the Cuttlebug and then sprayed with Glimmer Mist, one was sponged with Victorian Velvet Ink and then my image was sponged with Victorian Velvet ink also.  My roses are also homemade using a twisted paper technique and they were distressed and also got a spray of Glimmer Mist.  The Leaves are a Spellbinders die that was sponged with Distress Ink.   Whew....I'm getting long winded!   I hope you enjoy it!  Now let's see what you come up with!!

You might also like to visit the other DT Members Blogs and see what they did.  You will not be disappointed.  If you like what you see, just leave a comment!  There is a lot of talent on this DT!!

More Black Magic.....

I know, I know....I'm wearing you out with this Black Magic technique!  Well you will be happy to note this will probably be it for me for awhile.   I'm ready to move onto different things.  I was beginning to think I might have to go to rehab to get over this, but I got it under control.  So as I work  through the 10 step program, or ever how many steps it takes, here is my card for today.

This is set on a card base from Stampin-Up .  It is from my stash and I have had it a long time.  I don't remember the color.  I used a Martha Stewart Edge punch on the card and then on some white card stock and taped the white to the brown edge; then used Ranger Distress Ink to age.  I used a crumpled piece of paper distressed and then the image is set up on Spellbinders Dies distressed also with Stormy Sky from Ranger.  I have no idea who produced the image.  It is so old, it was stuck and I had to pry it loose from its case.  Next a little piece of silk ribbon and off it goes.

Unless someone enables me, this will be it for awhile.  I need to move on and use other techniques. He...he..
So watch your step, sister, don't be an enabler!!.....Step away from the black card stock!!

Have a wonderful day and try and spend a little time with yourself.  Just a few minutes to sit quietly and ponder anything you want.  It feeds the soul!

Happy June Everyone!!

Well, we have taken a slide right out of May into June!  It is almost summer and before you know it, it will be Christmas!!  I just had to throw that in.  I have noticed that some of the blogs I visit are already posting Christmas cards....Well, let me just say, "I DON'T HAVE ANY CHRISTMAS CARDS DONE"!!   Now I am feeling like I'm behind...

I don't have any pictures to post today, but I do have a project or two up my sleeve for later!  While we had a long weekend, I did some blog surfing and WOW, did I find some neat things to try!  However, today, I must spend my time working.....you know the Suzy Homemaker stuff!!

Well you have a short work week ...so enjoy and remember, spend a little time with you...You might find you like yourself!
