That being said, here is my first card:

Other Supplies: Canson watercolor paper, white card stock, Spellbinders dies (Std. Circles Large, Lacey Circles and Venetian Motifs) Ranger Distress Inks in Scattered Straw, Forest Moss  and Victorian Velvet, glue, Shimmer Spray, Scor-Tape, Wooden Skewer, Paper Blossoms Tool Kit, piercing mat, Memento Ink in brown and black
Instructions: Card Size 6” X 6”
Make card base out of watercolor paper, I use this for added stability.  Next I cut a piece of the design paper in a 6” X 6” size.  I sprayed this with the shimmer spray and left to dry.  Once dry, I adhered it to the card base.  Next I stamped my sentiment on a piece of watercolor paper and cut out using the Lacey die.  I created a frame using two of the circle dies and a piece of the paper from the stack.  I edged the frame with distress ink. Glue this frame to the sentiment piece and then adhere it to the card base.  Now it is time to work on the flowers.  I stamped and cut out the flowers from white card stock; then I used the distress inks to color the petals.  I sprayed the petals with shimmer spray and wound them around a skewer and then I pinched the petals to give them a more natural look.  As the petals began to dry I added more of the darker color of ink to the edges of the petals because the spray caused the ink to run and blend a little and I wanted the darker tones.  When the petals are all dry I use the spongy piercing mat and the embossing tools to shape them a little more.  Glue them together and set aside to dry.  While your flowers are drying stamp the leaves and cut them out as well as the swirls.  Position the flowers and the leaves and swirls where you like them and glue down.  I think the papers and the flowers give this card a soft elegant feel.

You can head over to the Heartfelt Creations blog for more beautiful creations and loads of creative ideas.  Also you can click on the design team names to the right on my blog to visit each members blog.  Go visit and leave a comment...we love hearing from you.

I'm on a Roll....

Good morning everyone.  I'm here to share another holiday card I have made using a Mo Manning digital image.  I colored her with distress inks and brushes and I really love how she turned out.  Some pretty elements and some holiday paper and she is all set to go.

Have you started your holiday cards yet?  I'm getting several made and of course some of mine will be sent to the nursing home.  I really like to hand deliver the ones I give away and that way I get a little visit too.

I hope you have a great day planned today.  We are experiencing some gorgeous Fall weather here in East Tennessee.  The trees are beginning to turn and there are pops of color everywhere.  Have a great day and remember to "Breathe"!

A Holiday Card.....

As you can see, I can't make up my mind if I want to do Christmas or Halloween!  Today it's Christmas and I also have a Halloween Tag I will be sharing next!  So for today ... Christmas.  This is a card I made using Heartfelt Creations stamps.  I love these two sets and use them quite often.  HCPC 3309 Faith Heb. 11:1 PreCut Set and HCPC 3432 Magnificent spruce Trees PreCut Set.  Of course Spellbinders dies and pretty ribbon.  also embossed the large tree for part of the background.  You know, I just noticed, it looks like I might have gotten my background paper upside down!  Wonder if anyone else will notice?

Well people, we are well on our way to another wonderful weekend.  Do you have amazing plans?  As for me, no plans, just hanging out and maybe a little crafting!  What could be better than that?
Have a great day

More Beautiful Roses.....

Good morning everyone!  I hope you are up and ready to face another Monday.  I want to share with you another card I have made.  This is a SU image I have had for awhile and have been playing with.  For some reason every time I ink this stamp, something happens and I never finish it, until this time.  I have used pencils, markers and finally distress inks as I experimented with this image.  I love it and finally decided the distress inks were the way for me.  I love green and pink together and  think these roses make a pretty nice card.

So thank you Sylvia, my cyber friend, for encouraging me to finally finish this piece and share it with my followers!

OK everyone, go get your second cup of coffee and let's get this day started!  The temps are cooling down here and the mornings have that crisp Fall feeling to them.  The days are in the 70's and 80's and you can just feel the seasons changing.  Have a wonderful Monday and no matter where you find yourself or what you wind up doing today, just remember to take a moment and Breathe!

Yellow Roses... A Beginning....

As you know, I love making roses and yellow roses are something I have never tried.  I can see by looking that I'm going to have to rethink what I do next time.  Although, this card is much prettier in person, I still feel like it just needs something.  A dear friend of mine suggested I do yellow roses because they are her favorites.  I will keep trying girl, I promise.
I'm going to enter this into the challenge over at Joan's Gardens.  The rules this week are:
Make a Butterfly Card...Done
Use Green and Yellow...Done
Use something from Nature...Done
Have at least three layers....Done

I used lots of Spellbinders Dies and some pretty Prima paper to make this.  And oh yes, the sentiment is from Flourishes.

That is all for me today.  It's Monday and I have a list of chores a mile long!  Have a great day and as always, I hope you have time to create!

Wading Tilda.....

Good morning everyone.  It is finally Friday and time for me to share another card with you.  I just love this image and think she is so cute wading in the water.  I used distress inks to color her and then Spellbinders dies and then I used a piece of card stock that had been run through my Distrezz-It-All to be the base layer.  I used some pretty white flowers and some Marianne leaf dies and then all that was mounted onto a piece of pretty Prima paper.  Card size is 4 1/4 X 5 1/2.  I can just tell this is going to be one of my favorite images for awhile.

What do you have planned for the weekend?  There won't be much going on here.  It will be spent quietly, like old folks do.   So no matter where you wind up or what you are doing, take a moment for yourself and just breathe!

Magnolia Blossom Card....

Good morning everyone!  Happy Friday!  I'm so tired from all the chores, I would just love to sleep the day away.  But duty calls and I must answer.  I want to share another card.  Don't you just love Magnolia blossoms?  I think they are so elegant and we actually have a Magnolia tree in our yard.  But if you pick the blossoms, they immediately start turning brown and ugly.  I haven't been able to use them with other flowers and that makes me sad.  I colored the image using Ranger Distress inks and a water brush.  I have never caught on to Copics and actually sold all my markers earlier this year.  They were just lying here collecting dust, as I always color with the inks.  The sentiment is set onto a Spellbinders labels die and it happens to be from Heartfelt Creations.  A pretty piece of background paper some colorful card stock, a little ribbon and I call it finished!

Enjoy your day and thanks so much for dropping by.  I always love hearing your comments, so be sure and let me know how you like the card.
That's it for me this morning...remember to "Breathe"!

Joan's Gardens Weekly Challenge #16

Well I hit the publish button sooner than I intended to; so this post will be this afternoon instead of tomorrow morning.  Nothing like a crazy finger to throw your life into turmoil!  So here goes......

This afternoon I'm here to share another card I have made to enter in the  challenge over at Joan's Gardens   Joan's requirements this week were the following:

Use any size or kind of butterflies on your card
Use some type of scallops or lattice
Use yellow or gold colors
Use a patterned paper background
I think I did everything I was supposed to do on this one.  I started with a little Tea Cup Fairy image from Mo Manning and colored the image with Ranger Distress Inks.  I used a whole bunch of dies from Spellbinders and I will list them below.  I also used The Vivienne  Butterfly from Memory Box Dies.  I cut down the butterfly so it wouldn't overpower my image.  A little yellow seam binding colored with the distress ink and little glitter here and there and it is all set!

I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed making it!  It is such a fun image and I got play with my new dies from Spellbinders.  We all need a little Joy in our lives .....this is my joy!
That is about it for me this afternoon....I hope you have a great weekend planned.  I also wish you joy in whatever you do!!
Supplies Used:
Spellbinders Dies:  Antique Frames and Accents, Edgeabilities Mix and Match Frames (Classic Edges Two) Mix and Match Classic Inserts (Classic Decorative Inserts Four, Floral Ovals, Classic Ovals Large

If the Broom Fits.......

Good morning everyone!  I hope your week is getting off to a good start and that you have wonderful things planned.

This morning I'm here to share another Halloween card that I made using a little Magnolia Image and bits and pieces of things I just had laying around.  The image is colored using Ranger Distress inks  and it is mounted onto a card using bits and pieces of paper I had laying around from another card I made.  I added glitter to the broom and the hat band, but of course when you want bling to show up it just will not!  Also the corner pieces are from flocked and glittered paper and none of that shows either, so you will just have to take my word for it.  Bright green ribbon and some dew drops just round out the card and finish it off.   I should have taken my title and made it into a sentiment and attached it to the front of this card.  I may do that yet!

Hope you enjoy my card!  Today is Monday and sometimes can be a very stressful day, so no matter where you wind up or what you have to do, take a moment and "Breathe"!

A Fall Card.....

Good morning bloggers!  I have a Fall/Halloween card I want to share this morning.  This little Magnolia image was sent to me by a wonderful blogger friend and I colored her using Ranger distress Inks.  I used a Spellbinders Oval to cut out the image and mounted onto a 6 X 6 card base that is layered with purple and white.  The corners are also from Spellbinders Fleur De Lis Accents Dies.  The die cuts behind the flowers are Marianne dies, sorry I don't have the name of them.  The flowers are from wild Orchid Crafts and they were white to begin with and I sponged inks on the tips of them to make them match my image.  I also made a little tag to slide into the side for a little gift to go along with the card.  This card would make a really cute Halloween card or even a Fall card.  This one will be going into my stash for just the right occasion.

I have several cards I need to get to my sister, the enabler, so she can take them to the nursing home patients.  I just love that my cards bring some joy for these patients who need a card to give to someone who has done them a kindness.  I have never sold any of my cards .... never tried.  I just like giving them.   Who am I kidding...I just love making them.  That is where my "Joy" comes into play.  This is what makes me happy!  Many years ago when I first started my Journey, I would have never thought I would wind up making cards...but I truly have a passion for this and I hope by posting these I bring you some joy!

Have a wonderful Monday and wherever you are and whatever you are doing, remember to "Breathe"
While I was pulling weeds and Not Breathing a couple of days ago, I did something to my hip and so I've been babying it for a few days.  No more pulling weeds for awhile.  Looks like I can play, as long as I can sit for a little while at a time.  And I will have some quiet time to "Breathe"!  Nothing like getting old.  It sort of snuck up on me!

For He loves us with unfailing love........

Good morning bloggers!  I hope you are doing well, it's all good here.  This morning I want to share another card I made using this little Magnolia Stamp and some flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts!  I think this little dear is so cute standing there holding her little flower (I made it a sunflower).  I colored the image with Distress Inks and sprayed the white flowers with some of my homemade Pearl Ex spray.  The sentiment is from Heartfelt Creations and the design paper and card stock are from Hobby Lobby.  I think this would make a wonderful "Encouragement" card and plan to add to my stash so it will be ready when I need it!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend planned and that your weather is good.  We don't have any special plans; just going with the flow...that's what old people do!  So wherever you are and whatever you are doing, find a moment and just "Breathe"!

Next Birthday Card.....

I had to do another manly birthday card and I always have such a hard time with these.  I was rummaging through a notebook of stamps and came across these Tim Holtz stamps and decided to use these.  I have no idea what the name of this set is, but I decided to use it anyway.  I used distress Inks to color watercolor paper and then stamped the truck with embossing ink and used black embossing powder to heat emboss.  I love the way it turned out.  Then I stamped the other parts with Memento black ink.  I roughed up the edges and used distress inks on the edges.  The piece is then mounted onto a piece of red cardstock and then put onto the card.  The inside was stamped with a birthday wish and it's a done deal!

I will have repair men in the house today, so this has to be a short post.  I'm sure I will need a nap this afternoon once everything is finished.  I plan to find myself a quiet corner and "Breathe".  You do the same!

Birthday Card for Grandson....

We have some birthdays coming up in our family.  My husband's Grandson (feels like mine) is having a birthday in July.  I wanted to get a head start because there are two others coming up too.  The boy is ALL boy and loves sports and hunting and likes nothing frilly on a card!!  This was difficult for me, as I wanted to add a ribbon and bow and some buttons; but I held back.  This will suite him to a Tee!  Every time he opens one of my cards...he will look at it and then ask..."You did this?".  He loves to get them...especially if there is money or a gift card in it!  He will be 12 in July  and I thought this image would be perfect for him!  I used the step card design and kept the inside plain white so we could write a message to him on his birthday!

As you can see, I did add a little swirly tag from Spellbinders...I couldn't help myself!  Also I colored the image with Distress Inks.  I just need a little practice again!

Well, I have floors to mop and dirty laundry waiting so I need to get a wiggle on!  Have a great day and remember to take a moment just for you and "Breathe"!

Very First Guest Designer for Joan's Gardens...

Good morning everyone!  Remember I told you yesterday that I had a suprise for you today?  Well here it is!  About a week ago Joan at Joan's Gardens and Selma (Joan's Designer) contacted me and asked if I would do a tutorial for them to kick off Joan's Guest Designer Summer Series.  I have never done a tutorial before and just the mention of the word was enough to put fear in my heart!  I thought about it and then said yes, because I feel we should never turn our back on an opportunity to grow.  So go get a fresh cup of coffee or tea or your beverage of choice and settle in because this is kind of lengthy.  I'm going to show you how I do the paper that I use as a background for my boxes and also the flowers.  The products I'm showcasing are Spellbinders Dies, Heartfelt Creations Stamps, and Ranger Distress Inks.  Joan carries all of these products in her shop so if you need something just email her or call and she will get you taken care of!

The first picture is the finished box and after that....we begin!

I started out with a cigar box that I glued little feet to the bottom and then I painted it white.  From this point on it is just a matter of deciding what you want to put on it and then start to decorate.  You might say it is a clean pallet!  The top of my box will have a home made paper that I think looks like leather when you are finished.  You start with a sheet of white copy paper...nothing special here...and then I start spraying and dabbing color all over the paper until I think it has enough.  There are no errors here; use any colors you like just be careful not to over do and muddy the colors.  I use Ranger Distress Inks because they are a water based ink and whatever I spray on it will run and blend the colors.

I usually spray some kind of shimmer on after I get all the color on, or something I have made myself or just plain water.  You just want the colors to blend and cover the whole sheet and I love the shimmer sprays!

Now wad the paper up and scrunch it good and tight.  Use a heat gun to dry or let it air dry if you like...just be sure the paper is dry before you uncurl it or it will tear.

Next this gets glued to the top of your box using some kind of quick drying glue that dries clear.  Be sure to leave some of the wrinkles in so that it has plenty of texture.   Once it is good and dry trim the edges.  At this point I like to add some shimmer paint to give it just a little more shine.   I just use my fingers!

Next I start to work on the flowers.  I used Spellbinders Blossoms 3 Dies and cut out several sizes so I could have plenty of petals.  I used the three smallest dies in the pack so my flowers wouldn't be too large.  I usually use two petals of each size on each flower.  You can use whatever you like...add as many or as few as you like.  When it looks the way you want it to look, stop.

Next sponge on color; again I used Ranger Distressed Inks because they are water based.  I chose colors that would work well with the top of my box.  Usually I like to make my flowers just a little more vibrant than the paper, but make it to suite your own taste.  Mother Nature has a world of colors and shades out there in her flowers and I try to make mine look real if I can.  I always sponge a little on the back so if the petal curls you can see color instead of white paper.

Since I'm going to heat emboss these petals, I like to stamp them and emboss after they are cut out so that the embossing won't be hurt running it through a die cutting machine.    I just ink my stamp with embossing ink and then lay the cut out petal onto the stamp.  Then I emboss with whatever embossing powder I think will look good.  Today we are using gold. (Mental note:  Be sure and lay the petal face down on the stamp; that is the side that has the most color on it.)

Once I have all of the petals embossed I usually spray with some kind of shimmer spray and then add a little more color around the edges.  Then I cut between each petal almost to the center.

Now we are ready to start the fun part!  I just love actually making the flowers!  I use a cushy pad and an embossing tool.  Joan sells a wonderful kit for making flowers that would work so much better, but for today we will work with what we have.  I glue each layer, one layer at a time and push it down into the pad and it will pop up the petals.  Keep doing this until your flower has the look you love.  Sometimes I pinch each petal to crease it a little to add a little dimension.  You can curl the edges or do most anything you want...just be careful and mindful of your embossing.

Once the glue is dry you can fluff up and make them look fuller.  Here is what mine looked like finished.

You can then glue these and some leaves and some pearls, etc. onto the top of your box.  You can use whatever your little heart desires.  Use as much or as little as you like.  I added a medallion with a sentiment stamped onto it for part of my top.  You can use something like this or nothing at all.  Let your imagination run wild...wade on in and get your feet wet.  Sitting on the bank in this hot weather is no fun!

Well, I have to tell you, this wasn't bad at all.  In fact I sort of liked doing the tutorial!  Just goes to show you, follow your heart, begin your Journey...you just never know where it will lead you.

Now is time for you to make your own creation...try these techniques I've just showed you and create something using them.  Then go to Joan's Weekly Challenge and link back to a picture of your project.  She is offering a prize for the winner.  You can get all the details on Joan's blog!  Just relax, take a deep breathe and follow your  heart!  You can do this....I just know it.  I'm so anxious to see what you make.

Again, a HUGE thanks to Joan and Selma for thinking of me.  I love Joan's shop and try to purchase my new items from her whenever possible!  She does such a great job with her order handling and shipping and if she has to order something for you, she is always good to keep the communication going.

If you have enjoyed this tutorial please leave me a comment...I love hearing from you!  Now go forth and enjoy your day and remember take a moment and "Breathe"!!
