Just For Fun Color Challenge #15

Happy Friday all!  Since it is Friday, it is again time for the Just For Fun Color Challenge!!  This week Sherry challenged us to use Olive, Light Blue and Tan.  Please come play with us this week!!   Just create a card or project and go the JFF Blog http://jffstamps.typepad.com/jffstamps/ and link your card or project using the Mr. Linky at the bottom of the page.  We look forward to seeing what you create!  You do not have to have JFF Stamps; just use the colors listed above.  Good luck and we hope to see your card/project there!

I decided to do a tag this week.   Change things up a little!  The stamps I used are:  H3170-Alpha Sayings and E3300 PRR Railroad.  You can purchase these stamps at Just For Fun Rubber Stamps http://jffstamps.com/  Feel free to check out their site.  They have lots of wonderful stamps and they are such good quality!  A very good value!!

I stamped the train in Ranger Distress Ink in Forest Moss then embossed with clear embossing powder from Ranger.  I stamped the Alpha Sayings and then cut out the words I wanted to use.    I used Ranger Distress Inks to add some color to the tag and topped off with some jute.  Pretty simple!  I hope you enjoy!

Supplies:
Cream Colored Tag
Distress Inks from Ranger
Clear Embossing Powder from Ranger
Stamps:  E3300 PRR Railroad and  H3170 Alpha Sayings

Now please visit the other DT members participating this week to see what they come up with!  There is so much talent on this team; I'm always in awe of their creations!

Rainey Days.......

It rained all day yesterday.  I didn't get to stick my head out all day long...but it was OK, as I really needed to spend some time doing HEAVY cleaning.  Now today, I get to run errands.  I will wind up spending most of the day running in and out of stores and gathering groceries.   I try to limit my trips to town to once a week, since I hate it anyway, and I feel like I'm using too much fuel.  Not that it is that far to town from here, but I'd much rather be at home.  I guess that comes from working all those years; so now I'm very content to just be here.  I swear, I remind myself of my Grandmother, more every day!  Most days you could find her puttering around in her flower beds or sitting on her porch...Yep...that's me all over!  I love being outside and being in the fresh air.  And I have almost finished painting THAT DAMN FENCE!  Just a couple more sections on the outside and I'm done.  Whew, I can't wait....then it is on to the front porch.  I have so many projects that I want to do, and I'm sure the summer just will not be long enough!  Canning season is fast approaching and hopefully, I'll be  doing some of that.  I love to see things going into jars and onto the shelves for winter.  It makes me feel like I've really accomplished something!

Well ladies, I've been way too long winded this morning.  I just wanted to say hello and get about the business of the day.  Sooooo, I'm off to get another cup of coffee!!

Have a wonderful day and REMEMBER TO TAKE TIME TO BREATHE!!

A little gift........

Good morning all!  Hope you are doing well.  I'm a little late this morning, however, I do have a cute little project to share with you.

This little shoe is made from a pattern I found at a blog that I visit often.  You can find the pattern here...http://artfulaffirmations.blogspot.com/  Just look down the right hand side of her blog and you will see the tutorial.  Now this is my first try at this and it takes a little playing with (for me) to get everything to fit nicely.  She makes it look so easy.    I used some yellow card stock and ran it through my Cuttlebug with folder for the toe of the shoe.  I also used some Ranger Distress Ink in Spiced Marmalade to add some depth to the pattern.  A little lace and a homemade flower and it is done.  It is the perfect place to tuck some of my favorite laces, ribbon,  and other things I love down into the toe.  Such a nice gift idea.

Remember guys, this is a first effort so please be kind.  I will be trying this again and hoping it will have a more finished look.  To me, mine looks a little sloppy.  But never fear...I'll keep doing this until I get it right!
I'm thinking one of my friends will get this as a small gift from me.

Twisted Paper Flower Tutorial

Good Monday Morning!  Hope your week is getting off to a good start!  My day will be filled with lots of errands and laundry and Suzy Homemaker Stuff.  You know the drill!

Chaun asked me if I had a tutorial for the flowers I used on my card posted on Friday for the JFF Color Challenge....I personally don't have a tutorial for anything.(I never felt like I knew enough to do one)...but you can go here to see where I learned it...http://www.creatingkeepsakesblog.com/blog/2009/10/30/special-guest-blogger-tia-bennett/  This is the tutorial I used.  I had been seeing these flowers a lot and thought they were beautiful so I Googled it and this is what I came up with.  I love these flowers and they are so easy to make.  When I finish one I spray it with Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels and smush it down.  When it dries, it is so pretty.    Good luck Chaun!!  Usually, I visit lots of blogs and youtube and find tutorials and watch them.  That is how I learn.   I live in a rural area and we only have 1 craft store and there are no classes to my knowledge.  Here is a blog that I visit daily...http://beate.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/
Beate is a very talented lady and has numerous tutorial videos listed on her blog.  I use a lot of the techniques that she shows in her videos.  Check her out!

I don't have a card to post today, My weekend was spent gardening.  Our veggies are up and doing well.  Tomatoes are blooming and have been caged.  Cukes are blooming, and the beans are putting out runners.  We are so happy to have had rain on our garden this Spring.  Usually, once we plant it just stops raining, but this year we have been so fortunate.

I hope you have a wonderful week!  I'll be back in a day or so with another card for you.  I'm going to have to find a new way to store them....I have several and need to be able to store without cramping them.  Any ideas?

Just For Fun Friday Challenge #14

Good Friday Morning everyone!  I hope you are Up and Ready to Go!  Since it is Friday, it is again time to challenge your creativity!!  KAT has chosen  Monochromatic: Shades of Any One Color  for today's challenge!  Come play with us!  Just make a card/project using these colors and JFF stamps if you have them.... if you don't have any of these stamps just use what you have...then go to the JFF blog site http://jffstamps.typepad.com/jffstamps/ and link your card or project using the Mister Linky at the bottom of the post.  We look forward to seeing what you will come up with!  We love having you play with us each week!

Here is my card for this week's challenge.  I used the JFF stamp #A3195 (Trudy) for my image.  You can find this stamp at the JFF website http://jffstamps.com.  When you visit, you will see they have some amazing stamps!

Now, back to my card...I made the background on my card stock base using Pearl Andirondack Acrylic paint and a piece of Saran wrap.  You just dab the paint on glossy card stock and then let it dry.  Next you add some ink to give the color you want.  I used Ranger Distress Ink in Victorian Velvet....it made it a nice pink color, just what I needed for my shades of pink card.  Next layer is some lace from my stash (I think I found this at Walmart and I sponged some Victorian Velvet ink onto the edges of that.  Next layer, I used
card stock sprayed with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in  Vintage Pink, and Pearl.  I ran it through my Cuttlebug with a folder to emboss.  Then I used Spellbinders Dies to cut my three layers   to set up my image.  I used paper from my stash and did different things to add texture.  One layer was run through the Cuttlebug and then sprayed with Glimmer Mist, one was sponged with Victorian Velvet Ink and then my image was sponged with Victorian Velvet ink also.  My roses are also homemade using a twisted paper technique and they were distressed and also got a spray of Glimmer Mist.  The Leaves are a Spellbinders die that was sponged with Distress Ink.   Whew....I'm getting long winded!   I hope you enjoy it!  Now let's see what you come up with!!

You might also like to visit the other DT Members Blogs and see what they did.  You will not be disappointed.  If you like what you see, just leave a comment!  There is a lot of talent on this DT!!

More Black Magic.....

I know, I know....I'm wearing you out with this Black Magic technique!  Well you will be happy to note this will probably be it for me for awhile.   I'm ready to move onto different things.  I was beginning to think I might have to go to rehab to get over this, but I got it under control.  So as I work  through the 10 step program, or ever how many steps it takes, here is my card for today.

This is set on a card base from Stampin-Up .  It is from my stash and I have had it a long time.  I don't remember the color.  I used a Martha Stewart Edge punch on the card and then on some white card stock and taped the white to the brown edge; then used Ranger Distress Ink to age.  I used a crumpled piece of paper distressed and then the image is set up on Spellbinders Dies distressed also with Stormy Sky from Ranger.  I have no idea who produced the image.  It is so old, it was stuck and I had to pry it loose from its case.  Next a little piece of silk ribbon and off it goes.

Unless someone enables me, this will be it for awhile.  I need to move on and use other techniques. He...he..
So watch your step, sister, don't be an enabler!!.....Step away from the black card stock!!

Have a wonderful day and try and spend a little time with yourself.  Just a few minutes to sit quietly and ponder anything you want.  It feeds the soul!

Happy June Everyone!!

Well, we have taken a slide right out of May into June!  It is almost summer and before you know it, it will be Christmas!!  I just had to throw that in.  I have noticed that some of the blogs I visit are already posting Christmas cards....Well, let me just say, "I DON'T HAVE ANY CHRISTMAS CARDS DONE"!!   Now I am feeling like I'm behind...

I don't have any pictures to post today, but I do have a project or two up my sleeve for later!  While we had a long weekend, I did some blog surfing and WOW, did I find some neat things to try!  However, today, I must spend my time working.....you know the Suzy Homemaker stuff!!

Well you have a short work week ...so enjoy and remember, spend a little time with you...You might find you like yourself!
