What's on Your Workdesk? Wednesday #250

Good Wednesday morning everyone and welcome to WOYWW #250.  If you are a little confused as to what this is all about just hop over to Julia's blog and she has all the specifics about this there.  This week I didn't take a picture of my desk because it's pretty clean right now.  I've just been hanging out and taking a rest...sometimes we just need to recharge.  Instead I'm going to show you my finished canvas that was on my desk last week.  Now Mixed Media and I just don't seem to get along too well. When it comes to working on a canvas, I can't seem to know when to quite.  Suddenly it looks like it has way too many colors involved and they are not getting along.  I have another canvas so I'm going to try again.  I refuse to give up.

The message says:  My Wish and the photo is a freebie from the Internet.  Just so you know I have already gone back in and painted some more Gesso to lighten some of the colors.  It seems I am never satisfied with this type of art.  But I took this and hung it in my bedroom and low and behold it works in there so I have a new piece of art to use as a decoration in there.  Yes that's me doing a happy dance!  I think what it all boils down to is there is no set pattern as to what you do or don't do.  It's totally up to you and when you become happy with a piece then it is finished.  So I declare this piece finished!

Now I'm going over to Julia's blog and see how many of you I can visit this morning.  I never seem to get as far along as I would like.  Please forgive me if I don't make it round to all of you.  But I do keep trying!

Glenda, this is truly lovely. All that yummy texture just draws me in. I like the way you muted the colors with gesso. It really lends an aged, vintage feel to this very beautiful canvas. The flowers are amazing! I bet it looks lovely in your freshly painted bedroom. Love it!

So glad to see you have finished your lovely canvas. I've often thought of doing one using items of mom/dads to give as gifts to family. Thanks for stopping by and your condolences.

Glenda, this is so lovely! Well done - and a new piece up in the bedroom. Nice to move things around sometimes, isn't it?
Thanks for already visiting - yes, I am blessed with a lovely long run of workspace - doesn't stop me filling it all up, though!
Have a great week.

Glenda! You are being too hard on yourself I think it is an awesome piece of mixed media art! Check out my post a couple weeks back...http://okienurse.blogspot.com/2014/03/latest-endeavors-from-room-of-stash.html This is a perfect example of not knowing when to quit and I almost trashed it but the deadline came and I didn't have time to 'redo' so I just took it in. Everyone that sees it loves it! Hmmmm...them or me!! Have a creative week and thanks for stopping by and visiting. Vickie #43

Hi Glenda thank you for popping by. I think sometimes when you are not happy for a piece it is best to walk away and then come back to it later. I think your canvas is lovely and I am glad you liked it too in the end. Wishing you a great week and a happy WOYWW Hugs Helen 61

Maybe someday I'll try this. It looks so beautiful, and I don't think it has too many colors in this version, but it all depends upon what was in your head. I can certainly understand that. It must look gorgeous hanging in your bedroom. I can imagine it fits beautifully!
