How Does Your Garden Grow?

Good morning everyone!  Since I have not been feeling very creative this week I decided to take a walk outside with my camera and show you what I have been doing lately.  Whenever the conditions allow I love to grow a garden.  I can tomatoes and beans and I love having fresh vegetables.  All I have to do is walk back to my garden and harvest some.  It is hard physical work but it is also a great exercise for this old lady.  The fresh air and sunshine just is food for my soul.  We were getting pretty dry and things were really needing a drink and Mother Nature saw fit to grace us with showers yesterday and today. We have received some much needed beneficial rains on the gardens of the area.

I'm sure it has to do with the type of cabbage I purchased but my plants are huge and I already have several heads ready to be harvested.  Miracle Grow works wonders to feed.

I plant a heirloom bean called Turkey Craw, they are a pole bean and I have to save seeds so I have to plant the next season.  Sometimes you just can't find the seeds at all so I'm very stingy with the seeds. We string fencing wire for the beans to run on.  How do you suppose they know which way to send the runners?  I go one day and look and the little runners are heading toward the ground.  The next day they are all the way in the opposite direction.  That always amazes me.  You don't have to do anything other than provide the wire or string or poles and Mother Nature takes care of the rest.

I have canning tomatoes growing in the garden but these are little tommy toes or cherry tomatoes and this variety is a yellow tomato.  This plant is growing in a 5 gallon bucket just outside my deck and it's loaded with little tomatoes.

So there you have a few pictures of my corner of the world.  I have been so blessed so far this growing season with good amounts of rain and sun.   I'm a country girl and I love digging in the dirt!  So if I'm not feeling the creative juices flowing you can find me in my garden telling the plants how great they are doing and asking them if they would like a drink.  When I rest I sit in a chair under an apple tree and there is a cardinal that loves to sing to me.  There always seems to be a nice breeze blowing in that part of my yard and it is such a blessing to spend time there.

These are my herbs, I have just harvested some dill and mint.  They also seem to be doing well.
