Heartfelt Creations September Alumni Design Team Blog Hop

Good morning everyone and welcome to the September Heartfelt Creations Alumni Design Team Blog Hop!  I love participating in these hops because I get to spend a little quality time with some wonderfully talented ladies as we strut our stuff a bit and remind you why we were design team members for Heartfelt Creations!  I love Heartfelt Creations products and always feel like I've come home when I play with their papers, stamps and dies!  They seem to be a perfect fit for my style and I love their flowers!

If you arrived here from Giovana Smith's  blog you are on target and your next stop after me will be Cibele Glazer

My card size is 4 1/4" X 5 1/2".  I used the new Classic Sunflower stamps and dies to create the flowers on my card. I love the flower die because it is so easy to line up over the stamped image. Well done Heartfelt Creations! The centers of the flowers used some of the homemade chunky mix  I made myself.  The sentiment is from the Aztec Gold Sunflowers 1 Precut Set that is now retired.

Try to follow along the blog hop and leave a comment on as many blogs as you can.  You can never tell which blog will be the one they choose from.  If  your name is chosen you win a $25 gift certificate for products from Heartfelt Creations.  You have until 12 midnight ET on Friday October 3rd. to leave your comments.  The winner will be announced on Saturday, October 4th.  Good luck to you all!

Clearing My Desk.....

Yesterday I decided it was time to clear my desk of several piles of "stuff" because it was getting to the point where I was losing things that I needed to work with.  When that happens I stand a chance of throwing something away that I should not so I decided to take a few minutes and throw out some paper snippets and put some things away.

I found one of the gift bags I had been working on and had just tossed it aside to do something else and it  had gravitated all the way down the pile.  I had already done the measurements and cut and taped decorative papers and just needed to add some elements and it would be ready to stuff with Halloween treats.  So I had some Graphic 45 bits and pieces and some seam binding that I dyed to match another project and low and behold it looked really nice against the shades of purple on the paper I had used.

I just noticed I taped the ribbon and it is a little off.  Not to worry, I can remedy this with no problem but I don't even think my grandsons will notice.  They will be all about the goodies I've stuffed inside so I'm not going to stress to much over this minor detail.  They will enjoy the chocolate bars and then dig deep to find the money I always tuck inside and they will be good to go.  They are at that age and not too impressed with whether a ribbon is straight or not.  In the grand scheme of things, a crooked ribbon doesn't seem very major.  As you can tell.....the fact that I keep going on about that ribbon is showing you upsetting it is for me.  So I can assure you, before I send that bag anywhere, there will be a straight ribbon gracing the front of the bag!

Well that does it for me this morning.  Hope your day is a good one and that you have a wonderful weekend planned.  I spent most of the week doing Fall clean up in the yard so I don't plan to do a lot over the weekend.

WOYWW #277

We have reached mid-week again and it is time to share my workspace with you.  I love being a part of this little get together each week and it is hosted by Julia.  You may visit her by clicking on her name and you can check out her blog for all the rules and regulations for this world wide blog hop.

Last week I shared with  you some sunflowers I was making and then on Friday I blogged about the card I made using those flowers.  Today I want to share with you how I made the sparkle for the flower centers.

I had all kinds of gold seed beads and some gold Gala Glitz and I mixed that in a plastic cup with some Distress Glitter in Clear Rock Candy then I dropped in some Memento ink in Rich Cocoa and stirred and stirred until the color was all mixed in.  I left it overnight in the cup and allowed it to dry and then I put it in the glass jar.  It makes beautiful centers for my flowers and you too can make your own colorful centers for flowers.  I'm sure there would be many other uses for this, so just let your imagination take you away.  Gala Glitz is quite expensive for the amount you receive but I was not using the gold color I purchased in it, so I decided to just add it to my mixture.  It also gives another dimension to the recipe.  Just use whatever you have on hand.  I'm sure you could even use some chunky glitter as well.

Since you are using glass you need some type of ink that will color it so you could even use Alcohol Inks as well.  Now my sunflowers are all set to make their appearance on my next card.  This is part of my ongoing plan to use what I have on hand...it's a Craft Hoarder Anonymous thing!

I'm off to visit as many desks as I can before I have to start my chore list for the day! Have a great rest of the week!

Sunflowers

I love sunflowers and sometimes grow them in a row in my garden.  This year my neighbor had some growing in a flower bed and she expressed to me her love of these beautiful flowers.  When I purchased this stamp and die for making them I immediately thought of her.  So when I finished this card I gave it to her.

I love these flowers and you will be seeing more of these in my future!  The flower stamp and die are from Heartfelt Creations and there is even a sweet little lady bug as well.  I mixed up a batch of pretties to make the flower centers.  I used Gold Gala Glitz, some gold seed beeds and some glitter then I dropped in some brown ink and colored it all up.  I love the look it made and will be making some more of that for sure.

Well that does it for me this morning.  We are about to run right into another weekend so I hope you get to do something you love!

WOYWW #276

It's Wednesday and time to play along with Julia and WOYWW (What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #276.  Each week Julia hosts a large get together and we all link into a blog hop on her blog.  It is great fun and I get to visit so many desks all over the world.  I love to have a look  into other people's areas and see what they have going on in their craft lives!  Ideas are exchanged, friends are made and it is just a lot of fun!

I was on the Heartfelt Creations design team for a couple of years and I have never gotten over their stamps and dies!  Each release I try to buy the stamp and die for the flower they are featuring.  I just received the Classic Sunflower stamp and die and I've been playing with those!  I also cut out some lattice and did a circle frame around it and I will arrange the pretty flowers around that.  Next I just need to select card stock and maybe some pretty paper to match.  I always work backwards to a lot of crafters.  Most would select the papers and card stock first and go from there.  Oh No!  I could never do it the easy way.  I get so excited about coloring an image or making flowers that I don't even think about the papers until it is time and then I'm tearing my craft room apart trying to find just the right piece of paper.  Maybe I should put up a big note in front of me that says "Paper First".

OK, I've shown you  mine...show me yours!  Come play with us!  Just take a picture of your space and blog about it then link up at Julia's blog.  We would all love to have a look around your space and you might make a friend or two!  See you there!  Now I'm off to visit as many deskers as I can.  Have a great Wednesday!

Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge #16

Good morning everyone and welcome.  It is time for Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge #16. Who Loves School and Office Supplies? Most paper crafters also love school and office supplies. We love crayons, markers, shaped paperclips, notepads, folders and more.  If you hoard school and office products, get them out and let's play. Use at least one item that is really a school or office supply on your project.  You have until midnight PT,  Sept. 28, 2014  to enter your project on the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Blog.

I made a 3" square box out of black card stock and covered it with paper printed from Crafty Secrets Vintage Typography CD 3.  The butterflies and bingo cards are also from the same CD.  I took a tiny piece of the card stock and covered a little office clip and it holds the newspaper print and bingo cards in place.  Flowers are from Heartfelt Creations stamps and dies and I sprayed the flowers with Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Spray in Cocklebells Coral.  The centers of the flowers and some of the butterfly bodies are Gala Glitz in Brown.  I love the little bit of sparkle it gave my project along with the Starburst Spray! I hope you love this little box as much as I loved making it!

The team sponsors for September are Heartfelt Creations and Crafty Secrets.  The gift for this challenge is a $30 gift certificate from Lindy's Stamp Gang!
Now get busy; we can't wait to see your projects!  You can visit the rest of the design team by clicking on their names below!  Go visit and leave some love...we all love hearing from you!

Cute Gift Bag With a Pocket.....

Before I get started this morning I just want to say that this is not my design.  I saw this on Pinterest and for the life of me, I cannot find the video.  So I cannot give credit where it is due.  I wanted you to see how I make these because they are so handy and look so cute all decorated and ready to go.

I start with a plain brown lunch bag  measuring 5" X 10 1/2".  I measure down from the opening of the bag 2 1/2" and mark with a pencil.

Next I fold the bottom of the bag up to the pencil marks which is the beginning of your pocket.

Next I turn the bag over and measure the back and cut a piece of design paper to cover and then I go ahead a tape or glue it down.  I've been using Scor-Tape because of the use they will get.

Now you can turn the bag back over and run a line of tape down each side of the folded section of the bag.  Tape it down; this makes your envelope and then you can decorate this side.  Let your imagination run wild!

Make them for kids, friends, husbands, mothers, cousins.  The possibilities are endless.  You can use pretty papers, ribbons, laces, flowers ...whatever your heart desires!  I used Graphic 45 "Bird Song" paper to decorate this bag.  I fussy cut images from the paper and popped them up and it is all ready to go! A really quick and easy project and they have so many uses!

WOYWW #275

Good morning everyone and welcome to WOYWW or What's On Your Workdesk.  Wednesday#275.
If you are curious about this just head over to Julia's blog and she has all the specifics there.  She is the owner and creator of this little bit of madness (I say that with love!)  The idea is we take a photo of our space and blog about it and link to Julia's blog and then we become one great big blog hop!  It is so much fun seeing what everyone is doing rather than just hearing about it.  So come join us!

Do you see my black box?  It is 3" X 3" and I love it!  It is perfect for decorating and I'm really enjoying making it!  I have some flower stamps and dies laid out and some Gala glitz along with some lace from another project.  My red flower mat is looking pretty terrible but I shape petals and glue flowers together on the mat.  It just helps shape the flower while the glue is drying and sometimes glue and glitter gets on my cushion mat.  But I love it and don't know what I will do when it is just past helping me.

OK that is all from me this morning.  Nothing earth shattering going on I'm afraid.  You always seem to catch me just after I finish a project and before I start another one.  I need to remember to show you during my creative process.  It really never looks much worse than this.  My actual space is so small that I need to keep a clean space for the actual working area.

Have a great rest of the week!

Gift Bag with Front Procket

Good morning everyone and welcome to a brand new week.  I'm just running through this morning to show  you a gift bag I have altered making it into a bag with a pocket.  I love this cute design and you will be seeing more of these in my future!  We all need a cute bag now and then, and you can decorate these anyway you like to suite any occasion.

I used Graphic 45 - A Ladies Diary paper to decorate my bag and just covered the back and didn't add any extras on that part.  I did some fussy cutting of the image and used dimensional tape to pop it up for a little extra interest and of course a hand made flower.  A little lace goes a long way here!

These would be cute for Halloween and Christmas...hmmmm...  my head is filling with ideas!  I hope you have enjoyed my little bag as much as I enjoyed creating this one.  Have a great day and I hope it is filled with joy!  See you soon!

Another Halloween Card.......

Hello everyone!  I hope you are doing well this Friday Morning.  We are once again getting ready to jump headlong into another weekend.  I must be getting really old cause these weeks and months are just flying by.  We are now into September and I can hardly believe it.

I'm here this morning to share another Halloween card I made using the Graphic 45  An Eerie Tale paper collection!  I just love the beautiful colors and cute images and it is so much fun to play with.

This is a quick and simple card using the images from the 12 X 12 paper pack.  I purchased a page of the stickers with this collection and I made the cute button by cutting a circle and putting a sticker on that then I tied a string bow and glued it to the button.  Love it!  I fussy cut the cute little girl and used dimensional tape to make her stand out a bit.  I think this card really is magical!

Have a great weekend and I will see you again next week!

Guest Designer for Crafty Secrets September Challenge Linky Party

(This is my second post of the day...If you are looking for my Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge Post, please scroll down)

Good morning all you Crafty Secrets lovers out there.  It is September 1st. and time once again for a new Linky Party over at the Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage Blog!  I have been asked to be a guest designer for this challenge and I'm so very excited to be playing with these very talented ladies of the Crafty Secrets Design Team!  The theme the design team is following is Fall/Halloween but you can create anything using Crafty Secrets products to enter the challenge.

I had so much fun making this card and I want to share a little bit about the process with you.

When I make flowers I start with stamping the petals and cutting them out.  Sometimes I use white card stock and color it with ink, but here I used the orange card stock because I wanted to match the orange in the image.  I dampen the backside of the petals with a tiny bit of water and then take a burnishing tool and burnish the card stock.  This  helps to break down the fibers of the card stock and enables you to shape the petals the way you like.  I then turned the petals over and pinched the edges to form a peak and set them aside to dry.  Once dry, the petals are sort of hard and the shape is set.  I then added the black stamen and the pretty Gala Glitz for the centers.

Next I took plain white seam binding (I buy it by the roll and always have plenty of white and off white on hand) and Ranger Distress Inks and colored the seam binding to match the flowers.  I used Spiced Marmalade and Barn Door.  I started by putting some of the ink on my craft mat and spritzing it with water then I wet my seam binding and then dabbed it into the color.  The spiced Marmalade was sort of blah so I then put down some Barn Door and ran my seam binding through that and it brightened the color considerably.  Don't be afraid to play with your supplies...just jump right in and begin!  When I was happy with the color I scrunched the seam binding into a tight ball and laid it aside to dry...it makes it all wrinkly and that makes me happy.

My card is 5 1/2" X 5 1/2" and has a black card base.  I used a piece of digital paper to add some interest to the base card and then started adding the elements. I used images from Crafty Secrets (CS12-05 Halloween Creative Scraps and DP2 Halloween Printable Sheet)  So many adorable images it was hard to pick which I wanted to play with.

Then I cut out the fence die cut and rubbed it across the edge of my desk and curled it a bit...that gives it a more dimensional look.

I tied a bow and added the flowers and my card is all finished.
