How Does Your Garden Grow?

Good morning everyone!  Since I have not been feeling very creative this week I decided to take a walk outside with my camera and show you what I have been doing lately.  Whenever the conditions allow I love to grow a garden.  I can tomatoes and beans and I love having fresh vegetables.  All I have to do is walk back to my garden and harvest some.  It is hard physical work but it is also a great exercise for this old lady.  The fresh air and sunshine just is food for my soul.  We were getting pretty dry and things were really needing a drink and Mother Nature saw fit to grace us with showers yesterday and today. We have received some much needed beneficial rains on the gardens of the area.

I'm sure it has to do with the type of cabbage I purchased but my plants are huge and I already have several heads ready to be harvested.  Miracle Grow works wonders to feed.

I plant a heirloom bean called Turkey Craw, they are a pole bean and I have to save seeds so I have to plant the next season.  Sometimes you just can't find the seeds at all so I'm very stingy with the seeds. We string fencing wire for the beans to run on.  How do you suppose they know which way to send the runners?  I go one day and look and the little runners are heading toward the ground.  The next day they are all the way in the opposite direction.  That always amazes me.  You don't have to do anything other than provide the wire or string or poles and Mother Nature takes care of the rest.

I have canning tomatoes growing in the garden but these are little tommy toes or cherry tomatoes and this variety is a yellow tomato.  This plant is growing in a 5 gallon bucket just outside my deck and it's loaded with little tomatoes.

So there you have a few pictures of my corner of the world.  I have been so blessed so far this growing season with good amounts of rain and sun.   I'm a country girl and I love digging in the dirt!  So if I'm not feeling the creative juices flowing you can find me in my garden telling the plants how great they are doing and asking them if they would like a drink.  When I rest I sit in a chair under an apple tree and there is a cardinal that loves to sing to me.  There always seems to be a nice breeze blowing in that part of my yard and it is such a blessing to spend time there.

These are my herbs, I have just harvested some dill and mint.  They also seem to be doing well.

This is it for me this morning.  Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed seeing what is going on in my life.  On Wednesday I usually show  you a picture of my workdesk and what I've been creating. This is what I do outside.   This is just getting back to my roots.

You are the Green Thumb Lady for sure.... I have had no luck with tomatoes, our bugs and birds so enjoy them that I gave up trying.. I always blamed it on the Fl weather being so Bug friendly :) I do have better luck with flowers...for some reason?
Beautiful pictures,, Thanks for sharing I can see why you love to be out there...

Wow I am impressed, your garden is wonderful. Here in the northwest it just has not warmed up enough for much to grow.

I know you think it is the Miracle Grow that makes your plants so gorgeous...but I know it's the love you lavish on them. Gorgeous garden, girl! I see yummy soups in your future!

Your gardens look FABULOUS Glenda! I knew there was a special reason I liked visiting you ... I too am a country girl raised on a small farm with lots of gardening & canning done every summer. I love where I live now but unfortunately we're not allowed to have vegetable gardens. However I do sneak 3-4 tomato plants into my flower garden. LOL!
Thanks so much for sharing these wonderful photos, brought back many happy memories for me. Have a fabulous weekend my friend!

Your garden is gorgeous! I was out working in my veggie garden today. It is a lovely way to simply be with nature. I want to try green beans next year, so thanks for the helpful advice about how to put up string fencing for them. I also love to talk and sing to my plants. It makes them happy and me too! Thanks for sharing for photos!

I am so impressed with your garden. My garden is so far behind yours. I have been having a few computer problems and hope to be up and running soon.

I love your garden! Fabulous photographs too. I must admit to feeling a teensy bit jealous at how healthy and big your green vege's are. We have the right climate but there uurs get gobbled up by the possums or wallabies or parrots :(

Hello Miss Glenda, how wonderful of you to share your garden withh us, it's looking fantastic, it brought back so many wonderful memories, my parents were gardeners and my Mom can everything, there is nothing like going out and picking the fresh veg's and having them for dinner, thanks for sharing..

Oh, how I would love to have the space and the sun to grow a vegetable garden like this! We have too many trees and, of course, all those flowers where there is sun. Your veggies look so healthy and beautiful! Your dirt looks great, too. What a wonderful post! I'm heading out in a little bit to water and fertilize my pots. Nothing is better than time in the garden!
