A Birthday Explosion Box....

Today is my sister's birthday (The Enabler) and I have made an Explosion Box for her.  Now these have been around for awhile and I've always loved them but this is a first for me.  I am inspired by Selma Stevenson and Olga Jewell.  Each of these ladies made and blogged about an explosion box and I just really fell in love with them.  I sort of copied Selma's outside of the box and Olga really inspired the inside of my box.  Let me just say that by the time I figured out what size I wanted my box to be and found the right dimensions I was well into my first day.  Then there was using the Liquitex and letting it dry...choosing papers and matching flower colors that I wanted and of course there were so many flowers and it took quite awhile to make those.  Suddenly I'm eating into the second day and realizing my bad back is going to make this quite difficult.  Then I cut out the butterfly and had to figure out how to suspend him and found out I was not born with enough fingers!  Once my box was finished, I confess I had to play with it a lot.  I put it together and let it go over and over again.  I'm quite impressed with the design, however, I'm thinking this may be one of a kind and my one and only!

In person, this was quite beautiful, if I do say so myself!  Thank you Selma and Olga for inspiring me.  This was one of the things I had been wanting to do and I knew I might have to have it on my desk for awhile so I decided while I was vacationing  (resting) was the time to do it.

I hope you love this as much as I do...and Happy Birthday to my sister!

OK that does it for me this morning.  Have a good day and enjoy the upcoming weekend!  And I have been thinking I may just try this again now that I have an idea about what I am doing.
