How About a Little Christmas Joy.....

I have been seeing some of the most gorgeous Christmas Cards and other cute ideas for the Holidays and it has just put me in the mood.  My glasses arrived and I am back among the seeing world and actually feeling like some holiday crafting.  I saw the cutest snowman hat decorated for Christmas on Pinterest, I'm sorry I can't remember where it came from to give credit but they used a coffee can to make theirs.  I decided to be different in that I used a nut can and a bowl to make a pattern for the brim.  Then I just let my imagination run wild and used lots of glue and glitter!

I found some really stiff backing board from a paper pad and used it for the base.  I cut it out with Tim Holtz scissors and then sanded the edges where they were not quite as circular as I would like.  The base and tin were first painted with Gesso and then black acrylic paint; then I splattered antique white paint onto that.  Next I just started adding my goodies.  There is a gorgeous piece of lace under there but once I finished, you just can't see it.  I used some Heartfelt Creations stamps and dies for some of the accessories and also some purchased roses and leaves in there.

You can still get the lid of the tin off, so you could fill it with goodies for the holidays if  you want.  I will probably keep this one and it will be sitting on my table at the end of my sofa.   I most definitely will be making more of these with different thems for gifts for the holidays.  A larger one would be great for filling with cookies for a gift.

Well guys that is it for me this morning.  Monday has arrived and it's back to the yard work for me.  I have lots to do and you have to remember, I'm slow.  Have a great day and I will be back on Wednesday with the WOYWW show and tell!

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #164

My friends have been telling me I have a screw loose for years and now it is true!  What's on my Workdesk....what's left of my poor glasses after the loose screw and the lens fell out!  I was in my yard working and when I took my glasses off and sat down to rest I noticed the lens was gone!  I searched everywhere but never found the lens.  So for 7 to 9 days I'm down...shut out ... until my new glasses come in.  I'm wearing an old pair from several years ago and let me just say, driving by braille can be hazardous to your health!  So I can't read, I can't craft, I can  barely watch TV.  I am a hair's breathe above being blind at this point!  So my desk sits virtually empty and you won't be hearing from me again until sometime next week.  Please bear with me as I become a lady in waiting.

So if you are wondering what in the world I'm doing showing you my desk is all about, just go on over to Julia Dunnit's blog and check it out!  Each Wednesday, we take a picture of our desk and post it to our blog and then link it over at Julia's blog so that everyone can come visit you.  You can visit blogs from all over the world and see what is going on in everyone's world!  You get some awesome ideas and it is just fun to visit each week!  So come join us in our madness and post your desk so we can all come visit!

So, dear friends that is it for me.  I will be here, but I won't be crafting.  Wait for me...OK?

Yellow Roses... A Beginning....

As you know, I love making roses and yellow roses are something I have never tried.  I can see by looking that I'm going to have to rethink what I do next time.  Although, this card is much prettier in person, I still feel like it just needs something.  A dear friend of mine suggested I do yellow roses because they are her favorites.  I will keep trying girl, I promise.
I'm going to enter this into the challenge over at Joan's Gardens.  The rules this week are:
Make a Butterfly Card...Done
Use Green and Yellow...Done
Use something from Nature...Done
Have at least three layers....Done

I used lots of Spellbinders Dies and some pretty Prima paper to make this.  And oh yes, the sentiment is from Flourishes.

That is all for me today.  It's Monday and I have a list of chores a mile long!  Have a great day and as always, I hope you have time to create!

Are You Up For A Christmas Card?

Can you believe it...Christmas in July!  I know, I know it's a tad early, but it is so hot here I just wanted to get into doing something that reminded me of cool!  So here she is...my little Hanglar Stanglar image.  She is colored with Distress Inks and I added a little Stickles to her wings and the hanger of the ball.  It doesn't show up too well, but trust me it is there!  The sentiment and the poinsettia are from Heartfelt Creations and of course lots of Spellbinders Dies!
So what next?  I think I'll look for my snowman images!  Nothing like getting a head start.

That about does it for me this morning.  I have a busy morning planned and must get to moving.  Have a good day and remember the weekend is just around the corner!

What's on Your Workdesk? Wednesday #164

Good morning fellow bloggers everywhere!  It's Wednesday and time to share your workspace with the world!  Each Wednesday we take a picture of our space and blog about it...then go to Julia's blog and link your post!  Why don't you come join us in our madness! With all that being said, here is the picture of my desk this morning.

My picture is a little dark this morning, but I think you can see pretty well.  I'm working on a little image for a Christmas card and in the background you can see my ink box for my distress inks and some cameos I'm working on.  I have several that I need to sand and paint and they will be ready to go cards.

We are supposed to keep this short and sweet so I will stop here.  Hope you have a great day and now I'm off to visit all the workdesks across the world.

Rose Tag....

Good morning everyone!  Well Monday has rolled around again and I'm getting ready to begin my week.  I just wanted to share a tag I've been working on.  Those of you who follow me, know how much I love making flowers and roses are a favorite of mine.  I like tags because they can be tucked down inside a gift bag and given to someone special.  They take just as much work as a card, but I think they are just in a class of their own.

For my tag, I used the Tim Holtz Alterations die and then ran it though my Cuttlebug with an embossing folder; then I used Ranger Distress Ink to go over some of the raised edges.   My roses were made by cutting out petals using the Spellbinders Rose Creations Die and the leaves were made using the Spellbinders Foliage die.  The roses were made using plain white card stock and I inked the petals with Ranger Distress Inks and shaped the petals then glued them together.  I used a gold leafing pen to add just a touch of gold to the petals of the flowers.  Just a tiny bit .... I didn't want to lose any of the elegance of the flower.  The petals were edged in Distress Inks and spritzed with water then crumpled to shape and give them some shape.

I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed doing it.  Making flowers just seems to make me a happy girl.  Have a great day and a wonderful week and I hope you can find a little time to create.

Clean and Simple...

Good morning everyone.  As you know I have been one busy little bee and have not been doing much crafting lately.  Therefore most of my cards are following the clean and simple rule.  No frills and able to mail easily.  Everyone needs some cards that can just tuck inside an envelope and get in the mail without much fuss.  That is what I have been doing lately.  Frankly with the garden coming in and inside and outside chores, I have been so busy I really don't know which end is up these days.  I guess it doesn't matter much as long as I keep treading water and keeping my nose just above the water line.  My card this morning is purple.  I love purple but don't use it much.  The sentiment is from Flourishes, the butterfly is a Memory Box Die and of course the frame is from Spellbinders.  A little purple cardstock and a piece of purple ribbon and it's out the door.

I hope your Friday is a good one and that you have a wonderful weekend.  We are getting some much needed rain here, but I can almost hear the grass coming to life again. ... Another chore that will need doing soon.

What's on Your Workdesk? Wednesday #162

Good morning and happy Wednesday to all you fellow WOYWWers out there!  Wednesday means sharing a picture of my workdesk and then linking on dear Julia's blog.  Julia is the sweet lady that came up with the madness and we all follow her without question.  Well maybe a tiny question now and then.  It is totally addicting and I have to admit, I'm hooked!  I love being able to have a look at all the wonderful participating blogs out there and I have learned so much from my visits.  I hope Julia never gives this up because I don't know how I would ever get over it.
Now here is my space this morning:

I've been working with my moulds again making different cameo.  There is just lots of "stuff" piled here and there and this is when it starts to make me a little crazy!  Tomorrow there will be big ole put-away and then I will start again!  I do so much better if I can have a little clean space to play in.

So there you have it!  Now I'm off to visit as many blogs as I can today.  I seldom get all the way through and I apologize if I miss you.  I keep trying and each week I make a few more stops than the week before.  See you next Wednesday!

Wishing you a Day of Joy.....

Some days I wish someone would wish me a Day of Joy!  So this morning I'm sharing a card I made for a friend...We all need Joy in our lives.

I love violets...well I love all flowers, but this stamp had not seen ink in several years and I decided to bring it out again.  This is part of my plan to use what I have and let me tell you people there is quite a bit stashed away.  Out of sight, out of mind!  I colored these with Prismacolor pencils and then used a cotton ball and Distress Ink to highlight in yellow.  My sentiment is from Flourishes Stamps.  It just seemed to fit perfectly on my card.  I cut an extra die cut and trimmed it for the lace and then used the cotton ball on it too.   Some pretty Prima paper and it is ready to go in the mail to my friend!

I know this is short and sweet, but my card is sort of short and sweet.  No frills kinda card, but I wanted it to be easy to mail.  Have a wonderful day and try to take some time to be creative!

Supplies:
Hampton Art Stamps - Violets
Prismacolor Pencils
Flourishes Stamps
Spellbinders Dies: Romantic Rectangles and Small Labels
Ranger Distress Inks
Prima Paper

Cameo Card.....

Good morning everyone...I promised you a card this morning using my cameo and here it is!  I actually love how this turned out and I definitely see some more of these in my future.  I used a Spellbinders oval die and the little die directly behind my cameo is a Marianne die.  I made the flowers using the Posy Patch die from Heartfelt Creations and I just cut the edges to make the little pointed edges.  I started with just plain old white card stock and used Distress Inks to color.   The leaves are from Spellbinders and some more Marianne dies.  I love using dies on my cards as I can have so many pretty shapes and give each one a distinct look.  And of course you  know me, I love making flowers.
I'm beginning to get back in the swing of things and being a little more creative.  I'm hoping to start on some Christmas things soon.  I know, I know....Christmas in July, right?  But if I don't start early, it usually doesn't get done.  We will see what happens next.  I just like to go with the flow and sometimes that isn't in the direction you know you should be going.  But the older I get, the more I realize this is just how it is and it's OK!

Well I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend planned.  Nothing exciting going on here.  Maybe a little crafting along the way.

A Few Family Photos and a Great Holiday....

Good morning fellow bloggers...just a couple of pictures of my July 4th Holiday....I so seldom get pictures taken of me but, me and the boys happens even less seldom.  The first picture is of me and my grandson Spencer.  He is 14 and standing over me as you can see.  I'm the white headed one in case you were wondering.  I finally gave up my 40 year love affair with the bottle...hair color bottle in case you were wondering.  I just decided it is time...It is what it is.    The second picture is with all three boys.  The other two are Chandler and Ethan, my SIL's sons.  Ethan is the midget in front.  I call him that because he is only 10 next month and still a shrimp.  I never thought I'd see the day when these boys would be taller than me.  Well actually I did, just not so soon.  Spencer is 14....Chandler is 15.  Such great young men and I love them all!

My 4th of July was spent lazing away the afternoon with my family and enjoying pizza, homemade cookies and homemade ice cream to celebrate my daughters birthday which is today!  Happy birthday sweetie!  Big wave from your Mama!!  I hope you all had a great 4th. of July and was able to spend it with family and friends.
Check back tomorrow as I have a card to share with you using the cameo I made.  See you then!

What's on Your WorkDesk? Week #161

Good morning everyone!  Happy 4th of July and welcome to WOYWW!  I'm here to show you my messy desk and some of the things I have going on.  I'm sure you are wondering what in the world is going on with me, that I should take a picture of my mess.  Well head on over to Julia's Blog and have a look around.  She is the creator of this madness.  We all take a picture of our desk and post it to our blog and then we go to Julia's blog and link back to our post.  That way we can all visit each other and see what we have going on.   Now, I have to tell you right after I took this picture, I did a good cleaning so I could be ready to start on my next project.  Not a lot going on here this week.  I've been making a few flowers and working with making a few cameos to go on some of my projects.

You can see the left over bleach from last week and a mould for making the cameo and stacked up are the bottles containing the putty for making moulds.  You can see my craft knife, some flower petals, my stylus and some paint.  Then the little tube of Rub N Buff used on the cameo.  I've just been playing.  This is what I do when I have a hard time being creative.  For some reason everything has been difficult lately.  So I just try different techniques and make more and more flowers.  Did I tell you I love making flowers?  So when you are struggling, what do you do?

So now that you have seen my little messy desk, I'm off to visit all of you and see what you are doing.  I love visiting and snooping around a little and seeing what you have going on.  I've found lots of creative ideas, storage ideas and just plain wonderful clutter!

I hope your 4th of July is a wonderful one and that you get to spend this holiday with family and friends.

Just Playing.....

It has been really too hot to do much of anything and I find my MoJo is slipping away.  So after seeing a video posted on Pinterest about making cameos, I decided to give this a try.  I had seen this video on YouTube awhile back and had purchased all the supplies but just hadn't tried the technique.  So here you go.  My very first cameo...now I realize she is a long way from perfect and I'm hoping I improve as I go along.  She is definitely a little rough around the edges and I realize the colors are not making me happy, but it is a start.  I would love to see this with a sage background or navy blue and then it would make my lady stand out better.  I definitely needing some tools for filing the edges so I will be looking around for those.  But it is a beautiful image and I love the Rub n Buff on the raised part.  I used Antique White and it looks so pretty in real life.  I'm definitely going to keep trying because I can see these on the front of cards that I will be making.

So what have you been doing these terrible hot days?  Being indoors is definitely a good time to play unless you are like me and totally losing the urge to do anything.  Keep your MoJo locked away so she doesn't slip out the side door!

I guess that is it for me this morning...no card,  just the promise of things to come.  Come back and visit with me on Wednesday and I will show you my messy desk with WOYWW!  Until then....try and keep crafting!
