What's on Your Workdesk? Wednesday # 142

For any of you wondering why I'm showing you my desk this morning, it's a Wednesday thing and quite an addictive thing at that.  For all the details just go on over to Miss Julia's blog and you will see it's a place where we can photo our work space and then link it so we can all share what we have going on in our world!  Sometimes, I just can't make this work for me, but when I can I love to be a part of this WOYWW thing!

Now, as you can see there isn't a lot going on here this morning.   Miss MoJo just politely slipped out the door about a week ago and she has been on holiday ever since.  Nothing I do can entice her back where she belongs.  So I have been coloring an image or two with Ranger Distress re-inkers and making some flowers too.  I'm 62 and as an older woman (you notice I didn't say an Old Broad") I have let my mind ramble back to my life as a child and all the things that have changed in it.  I started a Journal....this is nothing new for me.  The difference is, before when I wrote I wrote about all the things that were bothering me, making me mad, or sad, and things that I could do absolutely nothing about.  I always wound up burning them, because I just couldn't let anyone know my inner most thoughts about things that were hurtful, etc.  So I do not have a shelf full of little notebooks, collecting dust, waiting for me to die and then being read by my child or worse a total stranger!  This one is for my grandson.  It's about things I remember growing up, things that he can never relate to.....All the joyous things that are part of my life and really make up most of my life.  I like to think, if he doesn't want to read it, then he will squirrel it away somewhere, maybe in his attic and then sometime in the distant future, someone will find this book, filled with a handwriting that used to be wonderful and is now at best, chicken scratch.  Maybe this person will dust off this book and find many wonderful gifts hidden amongst the pages!  So, this might just be something you would want to think about doing for your children or some one's child in the distant future.  Talk about the things that mean so much to you and all the joy you have known in your life!  It makes for wonderful writing and reading!  For me, it is an awakening of all the joys in my life and it is making me realize what an amazing life I have had.  My life has actually been very ordinary, but for some it might prove very interesting.

So there, you have it...This is what is happening in my little corner of the world.  If you come visit, leave me a comment, and if you like what you see, Follow my Blog.  I love having visitors and I'll try come visit you!

Journaling,It must be an age thing. I could "DITTO" this whole blog, but my handwriting took a trip south already!! I've worked a few 3/4 line poems or quips in amongest the "Old Details"..I hardly think the grandkids could believe some of the things the way we lived and worked. Oh well..Happy WOYWW

That's a lovely idea. It would make fascinating reading I'm sure. I would love to read it.

This is so strange that I should read this just now. I've just got off the phone from my Dad who sadly lost his partner in September VERY suddenly. She was writing her memoirs (which she always said in a false grand voice) but I wish she had started earlier because there is so much I will never know. He is going to give me her fountain pen that she was using and he was calling to tell me he has hidden it from her family who are taking EVERYTHING. I want to write stuff down like she did. You are right, it will be so worthwhile one day. Enjoy it!

Glenda, You are one inspriring lady! Maybe you should just write and then your mojo will return! I don't really believe in mojo, I just believe sometimes we need a rest so the dust can settle in our minds. but what ever, I love your blog and all the things you share. Someday someone will look back over your blog and think, now why did I not find her sooner? Have a wonderful day my friend. My day is always happier after visiting your blog!

What a wonderful idea Glenda, to write everything down for your GSon. It's also not a bad idea to write down the bad things too, helps us to let go of them I think. I'm the opposite from you, I can't crochet to save my life! Nice to see you back too.

Hugs
Brenda

As a committed family historian, I quite agree with you. we might think our lives are ordinary, but our ancestors thought the same and wouldn't we just love to know all the little day to day details of their lives and their thought. We should all find the time to leave some sort of record of our lives for the future generations. Thank you for sharing all that with us, and for putting me on your visiting list this week. Speak to you soon. xx Maggie #11

I love the image you stamped.

The journal for your grandson sounds amazing! I would love to have something like that from either of my grandmothers. I keep lots of scrapbooks hoping that one day someone in my family finds them a fun way to look back on our history.

Happy WOYWW!

hi glenda,
that is great that you are writing your stories down for your grandson. i don't keep journals because i don't want other people to read them.... after i die or even before! i'm re-evaluating that though. you've given me an idea and i am going to run with it. thank you.

hugs,

A life is not ordinary if it is well lived Glenda..and I LOVE the idea of your journalling, especially as the youngsters cant appreciate the speed of change..it'll be a marvellous thing to keep and treasure. Isn't your colouring blissful. Bet you'll be in the middle of a long piece in your journal and pouf! back will be the mojo, pushing you around to get other stuff done...

What a wonderful idea, I love writing, but surprisingly don't keep a journal. You may have inspired me to do something similar. Enjoy this week's WOYWW snoop of the crafty & creative desks around the world. Take care Zo xx 81
