What's On Your Work Desk Wednesday

Today's post is for the What's On Your Work Desk Wednesday:  WOYWW    I found this blog through Sherry Cheever and thought it might a fun way to spend my Wednesday.  Stamping Ground  You should visit and look around.  You get to take a peek into other ladies stamping areas and see what they have going on!
Here is what I have going on at my work desk.  Some E flowers from Prima (I can't wait to play with them) and a Sitting Angel from Magnolia.  I'm taking lots of time to finish this little lady.  I want her to be extra special.  I have big plans for her.  I have been trying to perfect my water coloring techniques for some time now...I love the look of the Distress Inks used in this type of coloring...but my shading techniques leave lots of room to grow.  I have been experimenting with different brushes trying to achieve the look I want.  I am finally beginning to have a light bulb come on in my head now and then.  I discovered the secret is definitely in the brushes and learning which colors have more color saturation.  Those colors have to be used sparingly and you have to brush most of it off the brush before you apply to the stamped image, otherwise you have this blob of color that just will not budge!  Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain and Aged Mahogany are some of those colors.  I learned this the hard way, believe me.  So for this little lady, I'm taking lots of time ....trying to get her just the way I want her to be.  My next card will have her front and center.   See you then!

Your coloring is to die for already Glenda!! I guess that is part of my problem with watercoloring. I'm horribly rusty at it and don't want to take the time to slow down and re learn. I need to slow down with the creating. Savor the process and learn from it instead of being a bull in a china shop

Amazing! You can even make your desk look gorgeous! My desk right now has a half-finished ball gown on it for my niece's Barbie doll and a whole pile of fabric scraps that are cluttering up the place and need to be thrown away. I promise you, you don't need to see a picture--it isn't a pretty sight!!
My oldest is having a playdate over here today and then back to school tomorrow, so I can finally get back to regular blogging in the next day or two. It's been a long holiday! Happy Wednesday!

Wow, Glenda, it looks like you are going to have some fun today! Brushes do make a difference, however, I have never watercolored with distressed inks or stains! Hope you are learning a lot today! Am anxiously awaiting your piece, since your water coloring is already beautiful! We have sunshine again! Happy day to you.

What an adorable image on your desk, the colouring looks amazing!
As I make lots of cards which have a lot of 'white space' I find that using a black background is quite helpful!
Thanks for your visit!
Happy New Year!

Glenda I have always admired your coloring and notice you use Distress Inks to do it. I just ordered a set of reinkers from Joan and hope to learn to color like you. I know your little angel will be perfect.

Welcome to WOYWW Glenda. Love the little image, you're right about the technique and the colours, I love to water colour too and you have to learn what works well and what doesn't. The paper too makes a huge difference.

Welcome to WOYWW. You're going to love it here. It's very addictive.

I think you are doing a marvelous job with the shading and coloring. I have no idea how to shade properly. Happy WOYWW on Friday from a rather late #16.
