Gentle thoughts of you.....

Since this is a Holiday, long weekend, I have been spending time playing....  I decided to do a basic white card with a few focal points.  I used a cuttlebug folder to emboss the base card then layered with Spellbinders Dies...I Used Ranger Distress Ink in Bundled Sage to edge the ovals, then I stamped the saying in the Bundled Sage Also.  I made paper flowers out of twisted typing paper then wound it around and around and glued to a piece of card stock then sprayed with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Vintage Pink, Pearl and Irridesent Gold.  The leaves are also a Spellbinders Die with Bundled Sage sponged onto them.  The Saying is from Stampin-Up Limited Edition ...Garden Collage...from 2005.  I just love these stamps and use them quite often!

Well I hope you have a wonderful, safe holiday!  We are just hanging out here, no plans, just some much needed rest!  I wish the same for you!!

Just For Fun Friday Challenge #13

Once again it is Friday and time for the Color Challenge over at  JFF Stamps    Sandy challenged us to use
Orange, Black and White.  Come play with us ...Just go the JFFStamps Blog listed above and leave a link to your card or project using the Mr. Linky at the bottom of the page.  You do not have to have JFF Stamps to join in, just use the colors above!  We look forward to seeing what you create.

For my card today, I used JFF Stamp E1876 Asian Spider Mum and B2291 Just a Note stamps.
The Spider mum is set on white card stock and colored with Copic markers.  I used a Spellbinders Die to cut out the image and then I used Ranger Clear Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint.  Once it began to crack, I used Tea Die Distress Ink also from Ranger to age the image.  (My camera shows too much shine; the card is much better in person)  It is kind of hard to see the large image in my picture.  I'm still learning how to work with light.  Please bear with me.    The focal image was then set up on several squares using a light orange paper, also distressed and black card stock which I outlined with gold.  I was sort of going for the Asian look. the ribbon is from my stash, colored with Copic to match the mum.   The inside of the card is set up on a Spellbinders Die with an orange piece of card stock.  I also cut out a small portion of the mum and leaves to add a small amount of dimension.

Supply list:
JFF Stamps
Spellbinders Dies
Copic Markers
Ranger Distress Crackle Paint
Ranger Distress Ink
Glue Dots
Score Tape
Pearls from my stash
Ribbon from my stash colored with Copics

Now that you have seen what I did, why don't you visit the blogs of the participating Designers listed below.  Trust me, you will not be disappointed!  There is quite a bit of talent on this Design Team!!

I can't wait to see what you create using these colors.    Have a wonderful day and remember this is a long weekend!  Enjoy, Enjoy!!

Good Morning!!

Well, hello there!  I have been up since 2:30 a.m. and can I just say my butt is gonna drag today!  Our little Queen of Sheba needed a potty run and since I woke up first, I got the pleasure!  Once I am up that is it.  One of the down sides of being a morning person!  I definitely feel an afternoon nap coming on!  Today is the day I run errands so by the time I get home, I will be lucky if I make it to the sofa before I fall asleep!

I have steadily been working on the fence here and I'm happy to report that I only have 4 more sections to go.  I have been painting with a brush for better coverage......so maybe I won't have to do this again for several years.  By that time I'll be too old to care!  On a good day I can paint 2-3 sections on one side.  There is a lot of work in those little pickets!!!

Well that just about does it for me today!  I have been working on several cards for JFF Stamps but I cannot show them for a couple of weeks!  You should visit their website and check out their stamps.  They have some beautiful stamps and their prices are very reasonable! http://www.jffstamps.com/.  I have been having so much fun working with their stamps!

Have a wonderful day!

Bookmark.....

Good morning all...I'm back this morning to share with you my take on a corner bookmark that I talked about yesterday.  Here is my take on this ...I used the design printed from  http://outtoimpress.blogspot.com/

I just followed the link to the pattern listed in this blog and printed the pattern.  I used Scrapperdashery paper (Love is Patient) and cut out the pattern.  Then I ran it through my cuddlebug with an embossing folder and I used Ranger Distress Ink in Aged Mahogany and then I sprayed with Irridesent Gold Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.  Next I added the braid and a small pendant from Spellbinders Fleur De Lis Pendants.  I topped everything off with a pearl glued on with Rangers Glossy Accents.
Now I have a little gift for a friend who loves to read!  I hope you enjoy!

Supplies:
Scrapperdashery Love Is Patient Paper
Cuttlebug Folder
Ranger Distress Ink - Aged Mahogany
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Irridesent Gold
Ranger Glossy Accents
Score Tape
Spellbinders Fleur De Lis Die
Pearl out of my stash

Just For Fun Stamps Friday Color Challenge!

Good Friday Morning!! It is again time for our weekly color challenge over at Just For Fun Stamps. Come play with us!  Just make a card/project using these colors-Turquoise, Rust and Cream.  You don't have to use Just For Fun Stamps if you don't have them. Then go to the JFF blog http://jffstamps.typepad.com/jffstamps/ and add a link to your card using the Mr. Linky at the bottom of the page.  We really love having you play along with us!

My card for today is using the JFF stamp F2714 Wildflower Silhouette.  I stamped on black cardstock with white craft ink and colored with watercolor pencils then added just a dot of white ink to make it pop; I cut out with Spellbinders Classic Ovals Large and lined with a gold leafing pen.  Next layer is Spellbinder Fleur De Lis Pendants (two of them).  The next layer is a homemade paper using pearl acrylic paint and Ranger Distress Ink (Pumice Stone)  Silk ribbon from my stash and yes, I did tie my own bow this time.  Last layer is tissue paper colored with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and my homemade mist using Ranger Distress Re-inkers for Broken China and water.  I don't have a lot of paper; when I purchase it is always the wrong color or pattern or something, so most of the time I just make my own ....that way I can control the color, texture and I do much better that way.

My tag uses the Music stamp from JFF Stamps.  I stamped and used Ranger Rusty Hinge and Vintage Paper Distress Ink  to color.  I set it on some paper from my stash of sheet music which has the distress ink used on it also.  The base tag is winkle free distress and then some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist sprayed on to make it shine.  I took a star button cover off a blouse and added it to the tag.  The ribbon part is jute that was braided.

OK, now you have seen my card and tag ....below is a list of participating designers from Just For fun Stamps.  Just click on their names and it should take you to their blogs where you can see their projects.  Trust me, you will be pleasantly surprised, and you will enjoy every minute of your journey!  I hope to see your designs link on the JFF blog!

Oh yeah!  It is Friday and I'm getting ready for the weekend....It is almost here.  Enjoy and remember to take time to breathe!

May is moving right along....

Before you know it May will be gone.  It seems that I have been so busy lately and the days are flying by!  It seems that I have taken to being at home just fine.  There are a million things to do and I'm so slow....it takes me awhile to get them done.  Good news, it looks like we may start a craft room in a couple of weeks!  I can hardly believe it......well I don't until I actually see it being done!  We have picked out the tile for the floor, a door, a light fixture etc. etc. but until the hammers and saws start flying I just won't believe it!  I have waited so long for this!  Well keep your fingers crossed!!  Oh yes, tomorrow is Friday....come back and visit because we will be playing the color challenge for Just For Fun Stamps!

Good Tuesday Morning...

Well I am beginning to sleep a little later than normal lately. But I seem to be wandering around the house at all hours of the night and early morning. Something is always hurting, or there is some little complaint to keep me awake. Nothing really major, just those little aches that keep you from falling asleep and no matter what you do you can't get your nest made. So I wind up getting out of bed and coming through the house to find something to do quietly to occupy my time until I can get my little problem resolved. Enough of that....on to more happy things.

Morning Glories!! They bring back such memories of my childhood. They are a beautiful flower, but gardeners hate them because they take over. But you have to admit there is beauty there! For my card I used Cranberry Tart cardstock from Gina K Designs; ran it through my Cuttlebug with a folder to emboss the front. My next layer was Pink cardstock distressed with Ranger Tea Dye, Dusty Concord and Aged Mahogany Distress Ink. My top layer is Cream cardstock aged with Ranger Distress Ink; same as above with a little bit of Tumbled Glass added. My stamp is from Flourishes, colored with watercolor pencils and a little silk ribbon bow in a mauve, pink color and I actually tied my own bow!! For some reason my bows are beginning to look better and I couldn't be happier!! I love being able to do that; and if it doesn't work then I use my Bow Easy. I just think a bow you tie yourself has a little character and it just makes the card yours somehow. For some reason I just noticed my stamped image is a little off in positioning. My eyes are beginning to go!! Just goes to show you, all your images can't be perfect! Sorry about that!

Well ladies, that is it for me this morning!! I've got many boxes to go through today; as I start working in our basement to clear out some junk. Notice I said junk....I would never throw anything useful away...It is just my definition of useful and my husband's definition of useful are two different things! He...he
Have a blessed day! And remember to take time to breathe!

Another Card for You!

Good Saturday Morning!!  Hope you are ready for the weekend!  I certainly am....It is raining here this morning but we are hoping it is passing through and will be over soon.

I hope you enjoy my card for today!  I made background paper and used circle die from Spellbinders to cut a circle in the center of the card.  Stamped image with Distress Ink and used a cotton ball to add a lighter color to the image background.  Yes, some more glitter flowers!  I'm still wearing it....I'm not quite sure how it makes it to my face and neck but it does!

Have a great weekend and remember to spend a little time with yourself!

Black Magic with a Twist...

Now I am 60 years old and I just want to know why nobody ever told me about this technique! I stumbled onto a blog a couple of days ago and was seeing perfection. http://karenbarberstamps.blogspot.com/ This lady is doing some beautiful work and I just had to try it. Here is my rendition on the technique. You stamp dark cardstock with white craft ink and let it dry. Then you color over the white to your little hearts content. Then you add white dots to accent the design. Now I know there are other techniques out there that I haven't tried, but this one just blew my socks off! I hope you enjoy the card!

Suprise! I finished a card!!

Well i finally finished a card...seemed like I just couldn't get the time to sit down and do it! Lots of running around, back and forth, up and down, in and out .... whew! I'm kinda tired! Today I'm going to do nothing. A good day of rest will do me much good!

As you can see by my little flowers, I have been playing in glitter; and let me just say, I will be wearing that blue glitter on my face for a week!! It comes in little tubes and I spilled the tube before I could get it into the container I was going to use and it went everywhere. Another reason why I don't use glitter!!! But I do like the way it looks on these little flowers. The flowers are punched out of parchment paper and then embossed which turns the paper white and also curls the edges up on down. Before embossing I used a little Aleene's Tacky Glue on the edges and dipped in the glitter. You then let it dry and put a little brad in the center to hold it together. My image was stamped on an oval cut with a Spellbinder's die. Words were stamped off kilter on purpose believe it or not. I just wanted it to be different! The vine is my new die from Spellbinders and let me just say I love it. Also the Martha Stewart punch I used on the corners is new too. Woo Hoo 2 new things this month!
Well that is it for me this morning. I'm off to get another cup of coffee and read the Sunday paper! Waiting patiently on my package from Just for Fun Rubber Stamps!!!

May already????

It seems like only yesterday it was January, 2010....now suddenly it is May...I have been in such a whirlwind of a tailspin around here. Lots of grunge work going on and I don't mean creating either! I had no idea how dirty everything was. I have been scrubbing and fertilizing and planting and scrubbing some more! And the sad thing is there is still a ton on my to do list. Yesterday was another laundry day....I also got our deck ready for habitation and worked on my two fountains and got them up and running. The birds love them and in about 30 minutes after they started the birds were flocking to them! Abby fancies herself a bird dog so I have to watch her pretty close. Mostly she just lays on the top deck and watches but she can be sneaky.

It is supposed to rain here for a couple of days, so I plan to sit on my butt and heal up a little. I'm hoping to make a card or two...I'm going into DT's since I haven't posted anything for several days! Enjoy your weekend!
